    CONCLUSION

    The objective of this experiment was to study the operation of batch distillation using a packed column. The flow rate ratio of liquid and vapor was assumed to be constant, considering McCabe-Thiele method, to be one. The heat supplied to the reboiler was found to be 14200 W, the heat loss was 188.84 W. Since the column was not insulated, heat also lost from the column; 7500 W and from still pot to was 899.24 W. The height of column was also found to be about 3.8 meters, using overall transfer unit and height of transfer unit for both liquid and gas phase. Height equivalent of theoretical plate was found to be 1.9 m, and the number of plates was determined to be two. ???
