benchmark for the subsequent 500 MW units. Due to uncertainty of fuel availability, this unit was designed as a 100% coal, 100% oil and 100% gas fired unit, which is a unique feature for units of this size. This unit is also equipped with a 50% capacity flue gas desulphurisation facility with sea water scrubbing. TCE was associated with this project from concept to commissioning. TCE also provided engineering services for the second 500 MW multi-fuel fired Unit no.6 for TPCL. It is distinguished by a number of special features such as low heat rate, DDCS, SCADA, CPU, VFD and

on-line condition monitoring system. For the 2 x 130 MW corex gas / coal based thermal power plant set up by Jindal Thermal Power Company Ltd., at Toranagallu in Karnataka which was executed on an EPC basis, TCE initially prepared a feasibility report, supported the client in securing various permits and approvals and subsequently prepared the EPC tender specifications for global bidding. Bid review and technical evaluation was also performed by TCE. After award of the EPC contract, TCE supported the client as Owners Engineer by administering the EPC contract and monitoring and supervising the project
2 x 120 MW Thermal Power Plant, The Tata Power Company Limited, Jojobera
For the 2 x 500 MW Thermal Power Project at Simhadri of National Thermal Power Corporation Limited, TCE carried out civil, architectural and structural design engineering of the main plant for Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, who was the EPC Contractor. In addition to the above, TCE also carried out detailed engineering of the plant drainage, sewerage, underground facilities and auxiliary plant buildings. Technical due diligence for the 2 x 210 MW Units 1 & 2 of Ib Valley Thermal Power Station of Orissa Power Generation Corporation Limited (OPGCL), was carried out by TCE for Public Service Enterprises Group (PSEG), USA, to enable them to review the purchase of these units from OPGCL. After this power station went into commercial operation, TCE was retained by DSP Merill Lynch and OPGCL to perform a more comprehensive due diligence, which also included an assessment of the operation and maintenance of the plant. TCE has been associated with several overseas thermal power plants. For the 2 x 120 MW Pasirgudang thermal power plant of National Electricity Board of Malaysia, TCE provided design engineering, procurement assistance, construction management and commissioning services.
