It gives your body shape. It supports your body as you move. Some bones protect some vital parts or internal organs of your body.

SKULL

The skull has 8 bones joined together to form the cranium which encloses the brain. It has 14 facial bones 1 bone at the root of the tongue 3 tiny bones in each ear

Shoulder & Collarbone

There are 2 collarbones and 2 shoulder bones.

Chest

The Chest consists of 1 breastbone and 24 ribs which form a cage to enclose the lungs and the heart.

Spinal Column

The Spinal Column consists of 26 vertebrae.

Wrist

The wrist has 8 bones. Each hand has 5 palm bones. 14 finger bones

Hipbone

Consists of 2 hipbone. Helps support the upper part of the body. Protects some part of organs below the waist.

Leg Bones

Each leg has 4 bones (Thighbone, Kneecap, and two bones in the lower leg).

Foot Bones

Each foot has: 7 ankle bones 5 foot proper bones 14 toe bones

Femur Kneecap Tibia Fibula

Crickets caused by an insufficient supply of vitamin D and lack of exposure to sunlight.

Arthritis caused by gradual erosion of the protective layer of cartilage between the bones at the joints.

Scoliosis characterized by an abnormal curvature of the spine.

Bone Infection bruise or an injury to the bone may start an infection.

The skeletal system consists of all the bones in the human body. There are about 206 bones in the skeletal system. Joints connect bones. Some joints are movable. A ball-and-socket joint allows free movement of the bones.

A hinge joint allows movement in only one direction. A gliding joint allows movement in different directions. Injuries that affect bones are often caused by accidents. Diseases may also affect bones.
