Candace Pierces English Class

August 7, 2012 Dear Parents and Guardians, Welcome to the new school year! My name is Candace Pierce, and I am your childs English/Language Arts teacher. I am very excited to have the opportunity to teach your child this year. I am looking forward to helping your child learn the skills needed to have a wonderful and successful school year. Of course, I cannot do this alone. I need your help and support throughout the year. I have high expectations of my students, and my class will require them to become more responsible. Your child will have papers to write, stories to read, grammar to study, and projects to complete. Also, your child will be required to read AR books outside of class throughout the year for a test grade. Supplies Needed: Binder (They may share a binder with another class as long as they have 5 dividers in it for this class.) 1 pack of 5 tab dividers (Label them: Bellringer, Grammar, Literature, Writing, and Tests) notebook paper 1 composition notebook (any color/design) Blue or black pens and pencils highlighter 1 pack index cards (any size is fine students preference) Extra Supplies: These supplies are not mandatory but are always needed in our class hand sanitizer, tissues, etc. Any donation would be greatly appreciated! How to Contact Me: I will update grades on Edline every Friday. I am eager to get to know you, so please feel free to contact me anytime. You can reach me by email at cmpierce@pcu.k12.ms.us or by phone through the school office at 601.798.5449. If you would like to set up a conference, please call the school office, and our secretary will set it up for you. Class Facebook Page: I have a Facebook page for my class set up for student and parent use. Search for Mrs. Pierce-PJHS English Teacher on Facebook and Like the page. I will post there each time we have homework, tests, projects, etc. This page is meant for educational use only. If anyone misuses the page, that person will be removed and blocked from the page. I also maintain a Twitter account to post about class news. My user name is @MrsPiercePJHS.
