Dear Parent/ Guardian,

I am so pleased to be teaching your child math this year. I have taken this opportunity to
let you know a little about myself and to invite you to contact me if I may be of any
assistance to you with regard to your child. Please feel free to contact me by phone at
school or by email. I will return your call or email at the earliest possible time.
I have high expectations for each student but I recognize that all of us learn, create, and
express ideas in a different ways. How sad it would be to live in a world where it was all
the same. I encourage students to seek their own unique creative mode and to interpret
ideas in ways that most appeal to their own creative nature. Initially, we will focus on
some basic skills.
Students and their parents or guardians are naturally curious about the amount of
homework to be assigned. Homework will be given every night and returned the
following day, except on Friday. No homework will be given over the weekend. The
students will also expected to have their agenda signed by a parent or guardian each
week. The agenda will go home with the students on Friday and returned on the
following school day. My classroom is also a no cell phone zone, cell phone must be
off or silenced, any student using a cell phone in class will have it confiscated and they
must pick it up at the end of the day.
Finally, I want you to know that one of my most important goals this year is to keep the
lines of communication open with you. I am available every day to talk with you
between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and between 3:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Please dont
hesitate to contact me at 123-456-7890 ext. 674 or joe.smith@anyschool.k12.wi.us if
you have any questions or concerns during the year.
Warmly,
