2012 Dear Colleagues, Our preservice teachers have a veritable cornucopia of options for STEM-related professional development available to them this semester (see below)! We have compiled information about a number of these events and will email the following link to our Credential and Liberal Studies students tomorrow: http://tinyurl.com/Fall2012STEM On this web page, they (and you!) can download a 7-page summary of pertinent information about all of the events listed in the chart below. (Hopefully the columns are intact in this chart. If not, please download the file, as the overview chart is on the first page.) A number of these are free regional events. For those that are not free, students interested in attending will be granted modest professional development scholarships to help encourage and support their attendance. This relatively small investment will likely pay dividends down the road in their strength as K-12 math and science teachers, as well as in their connection and commitment to the teaching profession. The primary focus of most of the conferences this year is the Common Core State Standards, a vitally important current topic. Please encourage your students to take advantage of at least one of these professional development opportunities this semester. Thank you! Carol
