New Zealand Update by Gary Washer

SFT Awareness hosted a fundraising breakfast early in the year in order to raise funds for our international efforts. We were able to go to New Zealand and hold SFT training classes with those funds. The door in New Zealand opened up through one of our Malaysia connections who has a relative in NZ. (Kimberly and I stayed in MY for 6 months.) Another contact was thru on of my wifes roommates from college who married a Kiwi (New Zealander).

Presenting at Wellington church of Christ.

In New Zealand we were able to hold 3 classes on various SFT topics at the Wellington church of Christ. The picture on the right is from the class on Saturday evening. The people at the church were very receptive and had many questions. In fact, we were asked to stay because there is not much in New Zealand that addresses these issues at this time. The picture below shows Jared and Rachel Kyle. Jared is a dentist who also ministers at the Palmerston congregation. He received a ministry degree from Bear Valley in Colorado. He and the other ministers in NZ face a culture that has much apathy toward Christ. We hope that using SFT to help people heal emotional wounds can open the door for many to obey the gospel.

We look forward to our future opportunities in New Zealand. We thank everyone who donated and helped us to raise funds for this trip. We also thank Jared and Rachel as well as Carl and Adeline Cumings who helped us get into the Wellington church of Christ.

P. Dharma Swarup and SFT in India

Several years ago I was contacted by P. Dharma Swarup. Dharma is a preacher from India who has a D. Min or doctorate degree in ministry. Dharma contacted me because SFT Awareness proposed a great ministry opportunity for him and the other ministers that he is inuenal over. India is a very dierent country than the United States. We do see things like homeless people here in our country, but imagine a place where there are people almost everywhere you look who are suering through poverty. There were preachers that I met that did not have enough support to feed their family everyday of the week. My rst trip to India was a shock at rst at how much poverty and hunger there actually is there. Needless to say, it is easy to see why Dharma saw a need for a ministry that helps people with emoonal pain. Dharma says this about how SFT has made a dierence in his ministry. First they Before I learned (the preachers he inuences) are telling about Jesus Christ who is a true comforter and his death, burial, and resurrecon. Second SFT Teachers show pain carriers how about pain processing I was to become disciples of Christ by teaching the 4 step SFT process. Many are becoming pain processors. This is making a dierence in India in that marriages are made training 230 stronger and addicons are stopped. Zelaonships amongst families are improving. preachers. Now Negave a tudes are becoming posive, anger is becoming humility, and suicides are prevented. Many felt freedom from sin and the fear, guilt, and shame that it I am training produces. Before I came to the USA to learn pain processing I was training 230 1000! preachers. Now it is up to 1000.

Let us know how you are doing

We have worked with a lot of people over the years. In fact, we have worked with so many that it has made it very difficult to keep up with everybody. We would like to hear from you and know how you are doing. We want to know if everything is well, how SFT has impacted your life, or if you or someone you know is in need. Please catch up with us through info@sftawareness.org or (615) 322-5300. I love you all and look forward to hearing from you!
