One Last Thing

We worked on rhyming in shared reading this week! I Spy is a great game to play in the car, and you can practice rhyming while you play. Try playing it like this, I spy a something that rhymes with _____. Have fun, and have a great weekend.

Happy Autumn!

Sight Words 1st Nine Weeks

Heather Donaldson

Our Week in Review:

In theme, we read some books about France so that we could become familiar with the country. We learned about the weather in France as well as learning about some of the regions of the country. We added a list of things that we want to know about the country to our KWL chart. In centers, we did our October math journal page. We created Shape Monster books as we reviewed our shapes, and we made a class book based on the book Smarty Pants. The children had to create words that rhymed to make their page of the book. We also continued some small group research about France, and we made a map of the country showing the landscape and regions we have learned about. In shared journal, we began writing in our October journals. Please talk with your little one about good story ideas that would be great to share. Thanks!

For Your Information

-Thank you so much for sending back the conference time sheets so promptly! It was a great help to me. I have tried to schedule everyone with one of their 3 choices. If your time does not work for you, please let me know and I will be happy to reschedule. I am looking forward to sharing with you! -Our Trike Ride is coming up soon at AEEC. Each child received information in Friday folders last week. If you have questions, please let me know. Janet Motley (Jaydens mom) will be contacting you about items we need for the Trike Ride and for Family Fun Night. If you would like to help, please email her at janetmotley2@gmail.com. Thanks so much! -We are so excited to be going to the Auburn Airport next Friday for a field trip! Blue Pod will travel to research airplanes and airports as we prepare for our flight to France at the beginning of November. Please be sure to sign and return the permission form on Monday. Thank you.

Homework Time!
After discussing the weather in France this week, we talked about possible items that we might need to pack for our trip. In folders you will find a sheet with information about how to help your child pack for our trip. You will also find a job application for our trip. Please talk with your child and work with them as they sound out words and fill it out. Please return the applications in take-home folders on Monday. Thanks!
