Brownsburg Cross-Country

Expectations and Requirements

I. Grades
A. If you have make-up work, tests, labs, etc. that keep you from
being to
practice on time, let Coach Neylon know in advance.
If, during the season, you earn a D or F on your report card in
any class,
you are required to attend a minimum of 2 tutoring sessions per
week for
that nine week period. If you do not attend these sessions, you
will be
suspended from the team.
B. You must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and be passing 5 classes
to be eligible to run cross-country.

II. Behavior
A. Be courteous to other athletes (no hazing and pranks).
B. Be on time to practices and meets.
C. Conduct yourself appropriately (no foul language, showboating,
etc.)

III. Practice times

Practices begin at 3:10.

IV. Practice attire

Clothing that has suggestive language or alcohol or tobacco products
on it will not be allowed.

V. Practice/meet attendance
A. If you are in school through last period, you must show up for
practice/meets
B. You may have only 2 practice absences throughout the season
(either
excused or unexcused). Excused absences require a note from
your parent or doctor. Any absences beyond the second will
result in meet suspension the first time, then team removal the
second.
C. If you have one unexcused practice absence, you will be
suspended
one meet. If it happens twice, you will be dismissed from the
team.
D. You are to stay at all meets until they are over, including home
meets. The only possible exception would be for school-related
activities, but you must get Coach Neylon’s permission.
E. If you leave a meet early, you will be suspended one meet. If it
happens twice, you will be dismissed.
F. If you have an unexcused meet absence, you will be dismissed
from the team.

VI. Conflicts with other sports

A. During the season cross-country is the major sport.
B. If you play another sport, that sport comes second.
C. If you miss a meet because of another sport, you will be
dismissed.
D. Other school functions are the only possible exceptions to this
rule (intramurals do not count).

VII. Bus transportation

A. You will ride to and from each away meet on the bus.
B. If you are at the meet and not on the bus home, you will be
suspended one meet. If it happens twice, you will be dismissed.
Possible exceptions need to be cleared beforehand with Coach
Neylon.
C. Be on your best behavior on the bus. Misconduct will be dealt
with,
possibly leading to dismissal from the team.

VIII. Attire
A. Uniforms and sweat tops MUST BE TURNED IN AFTER YOUR FINAL
MEET (before you go home), so bring clothes to change into.
B. Tee shirts worn at meets must be school-related colors (purple,
white, black, gray) and must be plain or have Brownsburg-related
lettering. The only exception are team purchased shirts.
C. The only sweats to be worn at meets are team-issued. Do not
wear these at practices.
D. You will not receive a “loaner” uniform if you forget yours.

IX. Paperwork
A. A physical form, medical emergency form, consent to play form,
and drug testing consent form must be on file in the athletic
office.
B. The cross-country expectation agreement (below) must be
turned in to a
coach before you may participate in a meet.
