DR.D.SWAMINADHAN RESEARCH FOUNDATION (DSRF) Dr.D.Swaminadhan Research Foundation (DSRF) is a non-profit and non-governmental forum established in 1995 by three former Members of Planning Commission, Government of India Prof. Dr. D. Swaminadhan, Dr. Jayant Patil and Dr. S.Z. Qasim with the laudable objective of contributing towards development based on ecofriendly, pro-poor and gender equity parameters. It is registered as a Society and as a Trust under Indian Societies and Trusts Acts. Social Action, sustainable development, social empowerment, application of advancements in science & technology for development and promotion of human values are the focus. The Foundation has been recognized by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt. of India as a Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) and by the Ministry of Finance for the purpose of Income Tax Exemption. DSRF is also registered with Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India under the Foreign Contributions (Regulations) Act of 1976. The Foundation is established a number of Institutes of Higher learning fulfill its objectives JAWAHARLAL NEHRU INSTITUTE OF ADVANCED STUDIES (JNIAS) The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Studies (JNIAS) has been established at Hyderabad by the Dr. D. Swaminadhan Research Foundation (DSRF) in furtherance of its objectives. In consonance with the objectives of DSRF, JNIAS is a secular and nonprofit organization. JNIAS is striving to be an Institute of excellence undertaking advanced studies and research and offering Ph.D. programmes in certain areas in sciences, engineering & technology

Architecture & Fine Arts and humanities and social sciences. JNIAS has its own Scheme, Rules & Regulations and Bye-laws approved by its parent organization, DSRF. The institute is planned to become a Deemed-to- be-University in course of time. The Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Studies (JNIAS) has been recognized by the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH), Hyderabad and the Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Anantapur (JNTUA), Anantapur as an Advanced Research Institute for offering PhD and other P.G programmes in sciences, engineering and technology. JNIAS is being recognized by the Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU), Hyderabad for Architecture and Fine Arts courses. B.Arch Program (Regular)

The JNIAS School of Planning and Architecture offers a graduate Programme in Architecture. The program includes relevant courses in the concepts, process, technical details and design practice, as well as elective in an area of student interest. The course work is to help the student understand finer aspects of Architecture which are very much integral to designing, planning and scheduling of buildings. The courses work aims to impart quality education through effective communication skills and making the students conscious of built form in the contemporary scenario. Eligibility: Students should qualify in NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture conducted by Council of Architecture(COA)) with 10+2 (Maths stream) with an aptitude of 50% or more and 10+3 in Architecture are eligible for admission into Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch)

Swaminadhan, born on 01/02/1938 at Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India, is a distinguished educationist, engineer-scientist, researcher and a planner. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Liverpool (England). He worked as Additional Secretary in the university Grants Commission, New Delhi, as Vice -Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad and as a Member, Planning Commission, Govt. of India. He was also a UNESCO Chair Professor; Prof. Dr. D. Swaminadhan has nearly 50 years of experience in the field of higher education, engineering, technical and management education, research, educational planning and administration. He has a clear foresight about the dynamics of development of higher and technical education in the country. Prof. Dr. D. Swaminadhan had the distinction of being the UNESCO International Consultant to his Majestys Government of Nepal and prepared the New Science & Technology Policy document for Nepal in January 1998. Under his chairmanship, the Task Group constituted by Prof. Dr. D. Swaminadhan Research Foundation, Hyderabad brought out a Draft New Technology Policy for India and submitted it to the Government of India in 1999. He visited Countries like United Kingdom, France, Finland and Nepal. In keeping with his specialization in Bridge Engineering, Prof. Dr. D. Swaminadhan headed the National Bridge Research and Development Centre (NBRDC), Hyderabad as its Hon. Director. The Mission of this Centre is To be a World Class Centre in Bridge R&D. Prof. Dr. D. Swaminadhan chaired a number of Committees apart from being a member of a few of other Committees. He was the Chairman of the Standing Committee on University-Industry-R&D Labs-Professional Bodies and Scientific Academicians interaction constituted by the Planning Commission, Govt. of India. He was the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Value Orientation of Education constituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development; Govt. of India. He was also Chairman, AICTE Higher Power Committee on Mobilization of Additional Resources for Technical and Management Education. Prof. Dr. D. Swaminadhan has many National and International awards to his credit which include Eminent Scientist of India Honor, National Unity Award, Rajiv Gandhi Excellence Award, and International Man of the year 1996-97 Award and the Twentieth Century Award for Achievement.

He is also Invited honorary Professor at Andhra University, Bangalore University and Osmania University. He has to his credit nearly a total of 120 publications, lecturers, talks, addresses and papers. Prof. Dr. D.
