Threw seven shutout innings in his last start, striking out six and allowing just three this. In his last three starts, hes thrown 19 innings, allowed three runs on 16 hits and six walks while striking out 19 batters. Is 2-0 with a 2.37 ERA at home, which is nearly 2 full runs lower than his ERA on the road. A rare high school pick that began his pro career in full-season baseball. Signed near deadline in 2011 and did not pitch till 2012. In first full season led Class-A Delmarva in strikeouts (114) and finished tied for the team lead in innings pitched (114.1). Also was 10th in the South Atlantic League in ERA (3.86). Was committed to play for Arizona State, but opted to sign with the Orioles after being drafted in the 26th round in 2011. Hes fifth in the Carolina League with 76 strikeouts and second in wins. Has been stellar on the road, going 3-0 with a 1.54 ERA in six starts. At home, hes 4-2 with a 5.04 ERA. Pitched in 28 games out of the bullpen for Winston-Salem in 2012 before moving to the Dashs rotation and making 10 starts at the end of the season. He was 1-2 with four saves and a 2.98 ERA out of the pen and went 4-2 with a 4.25 ERA as a starter. Drafted out of Akron in the 16th round of the 2011 draft by the White Sox.

DAVIES VS. THE DASH: Zach Davies has made two starts against Winston-Salem this season and is 0-0 with a 4.50 ERA. He made his first start of the season against the Dash at home and then faced them again on the road on May 30, throwing six innings and allowing three runs in each start. Winston-Salem is batting .261 against Davies this season. BLASTING BASSITT: The Keys have faced Dash starter Chris Bassitt once before, on May 27 at Winston-Salem. Frederick scored seven runs off Bassitt over five innings, picking up four hits and four walks off Winston-Salems starter. Delvi Cid and Brenden Webb homered of the Dashs starter, Cids a solo shot and Webbs a three-run blast. SWING AND A MISS: This weekends series features a pair of players vying for a dubious title most strikeouts by a batter in the Carolina League. Winston-Salems Courtney Hawkins is second in the league with 84 strikeouts in just 47 games and Keys outfielder Brenden Webb has 82 in 67 games. The strikeout leader, Jason Martinson and his 89 strike threes, was promoted from Potomac to Double-A Harrisburg earlier this week.
