PLESZEW

Today we would like to tell you about Pleszew a small city which is situated 30 kilometres from Kalisz. This my hometown and of course whenever I think about my hometown a lot of memories from my childhood and adolescence come to my mind Pleszew has a convenient geographic location, because of the nearness of big cities like Pozna or Kalisz. The most precious historical monuments are St Florians Church, Stanisaw Staszic Lyceum and the Town Hall. There are also a few cafes and restaurants where people can drink coffee or tea and eat nutritious meal, the first level State School of Music where you can try ones hand at playing on instrument. There is also a nice cinema Hel in Pleszew where you can go with your family or friends and spend your free time watching new films. The Public Library has been operating resilient in Pleszew since 1948. Furthermore the Regional Museum collects objects related to archeology, history, art and technology, the House of Culture organizes many concerts and different events for all inhabitants. People can use sports stadium with a football pitch, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts and a swimming pool. These places are especially very popular in the summer when there is a beautiful sunny weather and a lot of children have a holiday. The favourite places for walk for inhabitants of Pleszew are Planty, the Urban Park and a lot of neighbourhood forests. There people can take a rest, relax and breathe deeply. In Pleszew it is not so noisy as in a big city like Pozna and it is impossible to get it lost. All inhabitants know one another so if you have a problem you are not lonely, you can always count on the people who surround you, because they are usually your friends or acquaintances. It doesnt mean that life in a small town means paradise. There are many problems with education- the choice of schools is rather limited, not to mention that there are no universities in Pleszew. So if you want to study you have to move to the big city like Pozna. Another serious problem is finding a good and suitable job. It is much easier in a big city, because the unemployment rate is rather lower there. Moreover, there are usually fewer cinemas, theatres and culture clubs in a small town. On the other hand in a big city there is a big traffic, the air pollution and the high crime rate. Taking everything into consideration, I must admit that Pleszew is a very interesting place to live for people who think highly of peaceful places and nearness of nature. If someone asked me where I would prefer to live in a small town or a big city I would have some problems with giving an immediate answer because there is no ideal place to live. Making a choice we always win and lose at the same time.
