    1. Begin your study of Mandarin Chinese with the four tones. You could start with
    practicing these four tones as below. It will help you to recognize what are the
    differences between them.
    Simplified Traditional Chinese
    Pinyin Meaning
    Chinese Character Character
    mā 妈 媽 mother
    má 麻 麻 hemp
    mǎ 马 馬 horse
    mà 骂 罵 scold

    2. Or you could try to read numbers which might help you to familiar with tones. Of
    course you can know how to read numbers in Chinese as well.

    2 èr 二
    3 sān 三
    4 sì 四
    5 wǔ 五
    6 liù 六
    7 qī 七
    8 bā 八
    9 jiǔ 九
    10 shí 十

    3. Essential vocabularies. I won’t give you too much at beginning. As you progress, I
    will prepare more vocabulary for particular situations.
