Taking a note of his talent, several TV channels have already broadcast him live, where he has been seen replying promptly to questions put forwarded by audience. Kautiya, a resident of Karnal district in Haryana possesses a sound knowledge about geographical boundaries, outlines and other information related to the subject. He can answer all questions associated with planets and solar system in a few seconds. Kautilya is mighty impressed with his icon Chanakya, who is well known for his diplomatic skills and economic acumen and wants to imitate the latter in terms of looks as well. He also wishes to grow

a pig-tail like Chanakya soon. Kautilyas grandfather Jaikishan Sharma . Jaikishan is also getting a number of congratulatory phone calls from far-flung areas like USA and UK these days.

Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda has honoured the states wonder kid, who has created a record with his intelligence at just 5 years of age. While presenting him a reward of Rs. 10 lakh as a fixed deposit, Hooda has also assured the family to bear the expanses of kid education. Kautilya Pandit is just five years old and he has created a record of remembering the geographical boundaries, area and other aspects of the nations of the world, on his tips. Kautilya, is a resident of Kohand village of Karnal district. Grandfather of Kautilya, Jai Kishan Sharma said that he and his family is feeling blessed to have such a wonder boy as grandchild. They always encourage him to explore the new areas and he has the curiosity to know about the things and till he doesnt get a satisfactory reply his qu eries keep on coming. During the ceremony Haryana Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Randeep Singh Surjewala and other officials along with Kautilyas family were present.

He is five-years-old, but has already become famous, surprising everyone with his vast knowledge of politics, economics and world geography, and answering such questions with ease that would sound Greek to most children of his age. Sonepat-born Kautilya Pandit, a child prodigy of Kohand village in Gharonda sub-tehsil in Karnal, is seen as an exceptional talent, who is busy hopping from one TV studio to another showing off his memory by answering questions on a range of topics, including population of countries, their GDP, culture, heritage and other things. "I love reading books, they are fun. I want to know everything about my country and the world," the boy, who studies in Class I and dubbed 'memory prince' by the media, told PTI. Noticing the special talent in the child, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has asked the family to meet him on October 4, the child's father Satish Sharma said. Asked about his son's talent, Mr Sharma said, "He was talkative right from the age of two. Our family runs a school in Kuhand in Karnal, where 300 other children are also studying. Kautilya studies there too." Mr Sharma said the family resides on the second floor of the school building. "We noticed special talent in him in February this year. He accompanied me on a trip to Agra and started asking me about the signboards along the way. I was taken by surprise by his memory. In May-June, he started reading books and since then he has acquired vast knowledge," he said. He said the child's IQ level had not been checked yet, but during a TV interview, a Delhi University professor had told him it should be around 150. The child's mother is also a teacher and Kautilya's two sisters, aged seven and nine, are also intelligent, but not quite a match for the prodigy, Mr Sharma said.

He said government should provide incentives to children who show exceptional talent which will encourage them.

Five-year-old Kautilya Pandit's extraordinary powers of grasping and recalling various tutored facts have attracted psychology experts of Kurukshetra University to investigate his learning capabilities.

"He is indeed a wonder child with an excellent memory power. We are so convinced with his natural abilities that our panel has decided to conduct tests from Thursday," Prof CR Darolia, chairman, KU's department of psychology, told Hindustan Times on Wednesday. Darolia said that a few days ago Kautilya's family had visited him to undertake his psychological tests and a brief interaction convinced him to research the aspects through intensive investigation. He said that the boy's talent was very rare and tests would help his team analyse as to how and in what psychological pattern Kautilya was memorising things. "It was observed that the boy was replying to all questions with utmost ease. He may have an intelligence quotient (IQ) of around 130 points, an excellent and extremely rare in his age group. Our tests will determine his memory quality," said Darolia. The "little wonder" studies at SD Harit Modern School is run by Kautilya's father Satish Sharma at Kohand village, about 20 km from Karnal. Sharma said that during a trip to Agra in February this year, the family noticed that Kautilya was able to read the signboards very clearly and easily. "With the help of Sushil Rawal, a teacher, I introduced Kautilya to atlas during summer vacations this year. To my utter surprise, Kautilya memorised names of all countries, capitals and oceans at once. Later, we noticed that he recalled everything uttered before him without any difficulty," he said. Sharma said that teachers and his father Jai Kishan Sharma, a retired vice-principal, introduced several issues, including astronomy, gross domestic product (GDP), role of dollar in international economy, India-Pakistan relations, automobile manufacturers and Kautilya grasped everything quickly. The family said that the boy's nature was very curious. In the past 10 days, the family has approached several private television channels and a series of interviews has popularised the child prodigy. Sharma said Kautilya used to dance well and showed interest in yoga, but became disinterested two years ago. No other quality except extraordinary memory was noticed in him, claimed the family. Kautilya's grandfather Jai Kishan Sharma said that he always inspired Kautilya with the names of professionals who got bulky pay packets and wanted him to be like them.

"We want someone to sponsor Kautilya's studies in some of the elite schools such as The Doon School, BCS, Bangalore, to ensure that his exceptional talent is nurtured to the core," Sharma added. Psychologists at Kurukshetra University (KU) have cautioned the family of Kautilya Pandit, a fiveyear-old 'memory prince' from Kohand village of Karnal, that too much interaction with the media could affect his mental health. In the past almost two weeks, the boy has appeared on various news channels to show his extraordinary memory talent. Following a request of the family this month, the faculty of the department of psychology, KU, had agreed to conduct intelligence quotient (IQ) and other tests on Kautilya. But stung by the extra media attention, the family has twice cancelled the tests. Prof CR Darolia, chairperson of the department of psychology, told Hindustan Times on Friday that the boy had a rare memory and his family should be cautious about his mental health. Kautilya's family has informed the KU faculty that the boy had fallen sick twice in the past 10 days. Psychologists attribute it to long interviews on television. Prof Darolia said that not only TV channels but also private companies and elected representatives could try to get mileage in the media by honouring the boy. "The family should refrain from it to avoid any further psychological disturbance." "It seems that the family is stung by the elaborated publicity given to the child prodigy. In an apparent bid to cash in on the child's memory, the family cancelled the Thursday's appointment in the KU on the ground that politicians in Delhi wanted to meet Kautilya," Darolia said. As a media report quoted Kautilya's family that the boy had been invited to participate in Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), Darolia said overexposure must be avoided to maintain mental and physical health of the child of such a tender age. Dr Hardeep Joshi, an assistant professor in the department and expert in psychological testing, said it would be premature to tag the mental abilities without scientific investigation. "Kautilya is certainly exceptional but only a series of tests could determine if he only excels in memorising and recalling or is excellent in IQ ratings as well. We are aware about the sensitivity of his age but his family's attitude may jeopardise his natural quality," Joshi added Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda described the intelligence quotient (IQ) of child prodigy Kautilya Pandit as rare and assured his family that the state government would provide every possible support to enable him to further excel in the field of education. Kautilya originally hails from Kharhar village in Jhajjar district and presently living in Kohand village in Karnal. Hooda while speaking at 'Bal Pratibha Samman Samaroh' organised to honour Kautilya at his residence here on Friday said that the state government would assist him to pursue his education in the institute of his choice.

Hooda honoured Kautilya with reward of `10 lakh and a certificate while the amount had been .1handed over to Kautilya in the form of a fixed deposit (FD). Kautilya's father Satish Sharma, mother Sumita Sharma, grandfather Jai Kishan Sharma, grandmother Vidyavati and other family members were also present on the occasion. Hooda said that he had watched the television programmes in which Kautilya had exhibited his intelligence and had personally interacted with him. Hooda compared Kautilya with renowned scientist Albert Einstein and said that like Einstein, the name of Kautilya would also be written in the world history for his vast knowledge. Hooda also reminded that the renowned economist Chankya, who was also identified as Kautilya, had established Morya empire by virtue of his wisdom. Kautilya's father Satish Sharma said that his son, who studied two and a half hours daily, had a knack of probing things. He said that his son had an enviable knowledge of almost every field including world geography, states, area, chief ministers, language, religion, but he had an expertise in world map.
