What’s Happening Around Town
The weekend is finally here! It has been a
long week for me, but I am thankful for God’s
ever faithful provision! I am looking forward to
a relaxing weekend, and I hope you are as well.
I am going to attempt to make this newsletter
brief as it is all I have time for this evening.
However, I want to direct your attention to
several important pieces of information.
Under the Circle the Wagons section, you will
find information about our upcoming field trip.
I believe the students will really enjoy their time,
and I am looking forward to the trip! You will
find additional information about the ACA
auction under the Rootin’ Tootin’ Reminder
section. Thank you to all who contributed to
our class basket! I hope you will attend the
auction for a special night of fun for the entire
family!
I want to close by reminding you that we do
not have school on Thursday, Oct. 15 and Friday,
Oct. 16 due to teacher in-service. I still plan on
having a shortened week packed with new and
exciting things! We will review our vowels and
consonants next week, and we will learn the
letter D. We will also begin working on our
letter H verse and continue on in our study of
numbers 15-17. The students will be studying
creation, seasons, and another community
helper!

Answers to Questions on the Ranch
A: We will be headed to Stephen’s Auditorium
at Iowa State University for a 12:30 perfor-
mance of
on Tuesday, October 2o.
We plan on eating a picnic sack lunch at school
with both kindergarten classes, and then leave
for Ames by 11:30. The show is to last one
hour, and we hope to return to school by 2:30
so we can enjoy a special treat. The cost per
child is $6, and if you are willing to volunteer
to drive as a chaperone, the cost is $4.
Permission slips and money are due Tuesday,
October 13. If you want your child to go but
have questions or concerns, please let me
know because I would be more than glad to
assist! We look forward to a fun and exciting
time!
A: Show and tell will be held every Tuesday.
The time will not be consistent from week to
week, but your child may bring a school-
appropriate toy, picture, or object to share
with his or her classmates each Tuesday! I
hope this will give us something to look forward
to doing on a day when we do not have any ex-
citing specials! Please encourage your child to
be a respectful listener and remind them of
God’s challenge to us in James 1:19! I look
forward to this special time each week, and I
hope your child will too!
 Spotlighting Students and Volunteers

Thank you to the Ott family for bringing

snacks this week! The fruit smile snacks
put a smile on the face of all the kids, and
the granola bars, raisins, animal crackers
and cheese crackers hit the spot! The Luke 16:10
students really enjoy snack time! Thank “He that is faithful in that which is least is
you for contributing, and thanks to the faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in

Academy’s Fun ‘N Games Annual Benefit Dinner
and Auction on Saturday, October 24, 2009. The
silent auction begins at 5:00 p.m. followed by
dinner at 6:00 p.m. and the live auction at 7:00
p.m. Adult reserved seating is $20, and reserved
seating for children is $10. There is also meal only
tickets available for $10. More information is
available at the school website. Please plan to
attend!
