Your PTSO needs YOU! PTSO is currently seeking volunteers to serve on next year's Board. Perhaps you have a special skill or experience you would like to share. Meetings are in the evenings once a month for about an hour. It's an easy way to get involved and keep in the loop of what's happening at AK but not have to commit a lot of time. The United States Naval Academy Admissions Representative for Ardrey Kell High School, Commander Dan Haller, will discuss the requirements and process for admission to the service academies on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 6:00 PM in Room G203. Students and parents interested in one of the service academies are invited to attend. If there are any questions, please see LtCol Wint in Room G203.

Senior Scholarship Awards It is time to recognize the achievements of the Class of 2014! Throughout the rest of the year, please let us know about any scholarship awards that you receive- whether you are accepting the scholarship or not. We are beginning to compile our scholarship data and well want to brag about each of you! For any academic or athletic scholarships that you receive, please bring a copy of your scholarship award letter or award e-mail to the Student Services Department. The total amount of scholarship awards presented to the Class of 2014 will be announced at our Honors and Awards Program in May, as well as during our Graduation Ceremony in June. We want you to be included!

Graduation Rehearsal
Wednesday, June 4th 5:30 7:00 PM Bojangles Coliseum Graduation Rehearsal is REQUIRED of all seniors who plan to participate in the Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, June 14th at 12:30 PM. Seniors Graduation Invitations and Accessories will be delivered during all three lunches on April 8th and 9th. Caps and Gowns will be delivered on April 23rd and 24th. If you have not ordered your Cap and Gown you must order them on line at: www.hjconnection.com ASAP. (Run this through April 24th)

High School Nurse Aide I Summer Program (Open to any high school student) July 7 July 31 Are you a high school student that wants to get your Nurse Aide certification and work as a Certified Nursing Assistant? Then this is the summer program for you! The Nurse Aide I Program is a 130-hour non-credit course providing the resources and enhanced learning opportunities for students to develop appropriate, fundamental patient care skills in a

supervised and controlled setting. The CCHS Nurse Aide I Program is approved by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation (DHSR) and meets Federal Guidelines. Here you can meet the staff, tour the campus and ask any questions. Cost Tuition $595.00 (tuition includes Basic Life Support-(CPR), ID Badge, study packet, clearance for clinical eligibility). Additional Costs There may be an additional charge for the background check if the cost is excessive. Candidates seeking NA I certification in NC will need to schedule a competency exam with Pearson Vue after course completion. The fee for testing is $101.00. Testing information can be found at www.pearsonvue.com Teal pants and white scrub tops are needed prior to clinical work. Shoes can be white nursing shoes or white leather sneakers. A watch with a second hand is required.

AKABC will award Eight (8) $1000 Scholarships to Eligible AK Senior StudentAthletes!
The Ardrey Kell Athletic Booster Club is proud to announce that they have doubled the number of $1000 scholarships that they will offer to eligible senior student-athletes in 2013-2014! A total of eight (8) $1000 scholarships will be awarded: four (4) $1000 scholarships recognizing excellence in athletics and academics, and another four (4) $1000 scholarships recognizing outstanding leadership and athletics. These awards will assist selected graduating AK student-athletes in paying to attend 2-year or 4-year

colleges in the fall. Eligible candidates will have earned at least a total of 2 varsity letters prior to graduation and meet minimum GPA requirements. Citizenship, sportsmanship, and financial need will also be considered for both types of scholarships. For additional details and detailed eligibility criteria, senior student-athletes are encouraged to get an application from their coaches or Student Services. Check it out and apply now! All applications must be completed and submitted to Student Services by Wednesday, April 23, 2014. Winners will be announced during Senior Night on May 22, 2014.

The Princeton Review is hosting a Getting In seminar on April 8, 2014 from 6:30pm8:00pm at Calvary Church in Charlotte. The Princeton Reviews chief expert on higher education issues, Rob Franek, will discuss a variety of topics related to getting into college.
