COMPANY INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background:

BIGFlix, a part of Reliance BIG Entertainment (A

Reliance ADAG Venture) is the largest Video-on-Demand and
currently the largest online - offline movie rental service in India.

BIGFlix currently has over 15,000 movie titles that includes Indian
and International titles .Subscription starts from Rs.375 with a
refundable deposit of Rs.300.Subscribers can opt 1,2 or 3 discs at
a time. There are options for monthly, quarterly, half yearly and
annual option available. Refundable deposit also varies
accordingly. Subscribers can collect movies from a BIGFlix store
or queue them up for free home-delivery from the website
(bigflix.com).Subscribers can return the borrowed movie at any
nearest BIGFlix store or they can request a pick-up right from
their doorstep, at no extra cost. Pick-up requests can be sent via
any of three convenient ways: SMS, from the BIGFlix website or
via phone.

DVD rental is available in India only. However worldwide users

can download titles. Payment can be made though credit card or
by cash.

There are several other online DVD rental services in India, all
running their own delivery systems and logistics. Unlike online
DVD rental companies in other countries, online DVD rental
services in India do not use the postal service as a means of
delivery or exchange. India’s first online DVD rental
service Clixflix started in 2004, and was followed by several
others like SeventyMM, EZEVID, MovieMart, Madhouse,
Cinebox, CineSprite, CatchFlix, HindiFlix, HomeView in no
particular order. Madhouse and Seventymm have merged and the
combine is now known as Seventymm. HindiFlix is based in the
United States and only serves customer within the USA. The
model has been tweaked in India to suit the local market place.
Cinebox serves in Ahmadabad city only with their own shipping
service. Clixflix serves members through stores, phones, SMS and
the internet. Madhouse uses drop boxes. SeventyMM and
Catchflix operate pure online models. Cinesprite operates a
multiple delivery model
1.2 Future Prospects:
Big Flicks, part of Reliance Entertainment Ltd and claimed to be
the largest online and offline movie rental services offering access
to 15,000 titles in 12 languages, is planning to have 30 stores
across 10 cities by 2008-09. The store tally is expected to touch
500-odd stores by the end of this fiscal spread across 30 cities.
Besides, the Reliance World outlet of the group is expected to
have over 100-odd stores in shop-in-shop format across 10 cities.

In addition, the company plans to make video-on-demand division

has introduced innovative, convenient and cost-effective
entertainment solutions to make cinema, television and music
accessible to the overseas NRI population besides offering
download to rent and subscription services in its portfolio of
operations.

The company is looking at the south market in a big way. While it

has rolled its services in Bangalore, Delhi, Chandigarh,
Hyderabad, Pune and Mumbai, Indore, Kolkata, Chennai and
Ahmedabad will be soon be joining the list.
SIGNIFICANCE OF WORK
I was fortunate to be the part of “promotion” in the Reliance
Bigflix during my internship. These promotions were done during
September and August.

The main reason behind selecting this period was to take

maximum advantage of the BIG DAYS in E-Zone during 15th Aug.
And as a part of promotion I was allocated Milan Mall e-zone at
santacruz.

My main purpose was to pitch my product to the people those

who enter the store and try to convert them.
METHODOLOGY
Sales promotion is one of the 4 aspects of promotional mix.

Bigflix adopted free-trail-pack and concession as waving of

deposits as the part of sales promotional stratergy.

This statergy has fetched mainly 2 advantages:

1. Communication: consumer gain attention & may lead to the

purchase of the product.

2. Incentives: This concession had help to increase the short-

term sales.

ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION

Napoleon Hill says, “Every failure brings with the seed of an

equivalent success.”
This quote very much fit to my experience at e-zone. Initially, I
really found very difficult to sale my product because there the
people come with different set of mind to buy consumer durable
and to bring attention towards my product was very difficult.

With the passage of time I learnt various things about sales like:

a) Customer Profiling

In the place like malls and stores where all types of

customer comes, it is very important for you to do customer
profiling. You should know your target market. By doing this you
save lots of time and energy.

b) Introduction

The way you represent yourself and your product plays

very important part to get the attention of the customer.

c) Pitching

Especially in promotional activity you just have 1 min. To

pitch your product. So your pitching shoud be such that it should
“click-in” to the customers mind.

d) Knowledge About The Product

It is very important for the promoter (sales manager) to

have the complete knowledge about the product. Incomplete
knowledge shakes the confidence in the customers heart.
e) Closing Pitch

Unlike the introduction, closing pitch should be very

attraction and smartly tackle.

CONCLUSION

I would like to conclude my project with the beautiful quote:

“All well that ends well.”

My overall experience of working with Reliance Bigflix was really

great. I had learned many things by passing through various
situations. There were the days when my single product was not
sold, those days I really felt very upset but, I boosted my moral
with the phrase “try try and you will succeed”. This has really
kept my inner flames alive throughout my training period.
