Abstract Either it is a sole personal contentment or handling customers needs and wants, it has been recognized as the most required & the most obvious item in each sector and that is effective management. In moderns business world which mainly characterized by the intensive competition, making the customers happy is the one & only objectives of management of any organization. (Plunkett, Allen, & Attner, 2012). Among all the important facets of management, today self-management is given the top most priority because the practice of self-management is the only way to get quality managers for our competitive business world. Requirement-1 1.1 Assessment of management skills performance of mine and indicate areas of improvement My Management Skills I am a Business Graduate. I have learnt a lot of business and managerial skills during my last 4 academic years. But, I dont have much managerial skills of that level of corporate field because I am not entering the corporate sector yet. Decision Making Capability Decision making is very crucial for the effective managerial performance. I am very capable of taking good decisions considering all the favourable situations. Good Communication Skills I am good at communicating with all kinds of people & this is also a good managerial as per I believe. This skill helps me in maintaining contacts with all kinds of people. Leadership Skills I had taken some training on leadership skills. From that training, I hope I learnt a lot of knowledge on how to lead people in making a solution. Time Management One of my good managerial skills is timeliness. I dont love to keep my todays work for tomorrow. Areas of Improvement There are some crucial areas of mine where I am lagging behind of some of managerial skills. Apart from this, I am also facing difficulties for the presence of those skills. Lack of Confident I am lacking of self-confident that is very crucial in the personal achievements. Presently, I am working on it to get rid of it. Cant Take So Much Pressure I am very incapable of taking so much pressures and workloads. This also makes me down. So, I have to work on it. Incapable of Self-Assessment Self-assessment and develop is important to understand contextual factors of success or failure of any personal efforts. (Rothstein & Burke, 2010). SWOT analysis is a fundamental tool that has been used in making better business decisions. (United States. Dept. of Agriculture. Risk Management Agency, 2008). I am going to show my personal strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats: My Personal Strengths As per my belief, I possess the following traits that have been working as my personal strengths. Good communication skill. Prioritize timeliness. Good at decisions making. Capable of working as a team. Leadership skills. My Personal Weaknesses My personal weaknesses by using SWOT analysis are: Cant take so much workloads & pressures. Angriness. Less persuading capabilities. Lack of self-confident & self-assessment. My Personal Opportunities There are some areas where I can get some extra facilities over others. These are: I am very keen to learn the new things by dint of anything. I am less sensitive regarding the types of personality with whom I am mixing. I am very well-known by all of my seniors & juniors. I love to learn from mistakes. I can build relationship with others so early. My Personal Threats I am not out of some of personal threats that are very alarming for me. 1.3 Discuss leadership characteristics of autocratic and democratic styles.
Leadership is a powerful concept and capable of conveying much more than can be contained within a concise definition. Leadership is also capable of meaning many different things to different audiences in different contexts. (Sadler, 2003) Leadership styles are based on the classic studies and theories of leadership. (Mehrotra, 2005). Characteristics of Autocratic Leadership Styles Autocratic leadership is one-man show leadership style where he or she is the sole decision makers and he/ she doesnt listen to the following subordinates. Autocratic leadership might be appropriate when there is time pressure or the subordinates have very low skills. (Daft, 2014). Main characteristics of autocratic leadership styles: Centralized decision making. Least heed to the others considerations. Single-way communication system. Creates dissatisfaction and fear among the subordinates. Less time required in making decisions. Characteristics of Democratic Leadership Styles The democratic leadership is the exact opposite of the autocratic leadership which main objective is to share power by dispersing leadership. (Woods, 2005). The main characteristics of democratic leadership styles are: Decentralized decision making. Give heed to the others opinions. Two-way communication system. Creates satisfaction & positive motivations. Presence of feedback.

Conclusion Personal skills development is really fundamental pre condition for becoming successful managers for the competitive business world. To be successful, managers need various skills ranging from technical to design. (Koontz & Weihrich, 2008). To be successful manager, you have to learn the tactics of managing yourself. So, self-managing is the key to success in managerial tasks. (Hannaway & Hunt, 1995).
