Given the opportunity to be able to study and watch the life of Rizal is an honor

for me, because I was able to understand the real story of on how he defended the
freedom of the Filipino people and the equality against the Spaniard. I was able to
visualize how the people before risk everything for the survival of our race, that without
their courage and unity maybe until how we are under different colonialization. Watching
the film was such a blessing for me, because it helps me to understand and accept the
fact that many people offered their lives, so that well be able to see the world and to
see the result of their unity and hope for our country.
As I start watching the film, I felt excited because ill be able to visualize his life.
As I read the book, Rizal was raised in a family full of love and happiness, and that was
seen in the film. As Cesar Montano played as Rizal he did a very great job, because he
was able to help the viewers understand everything. The definition on the book about
the talent s of Rizal and his enthusiasm was really seen in the film; he really excelled
academically and has the ability to show the Spaniards how great the Filipino person
was. Having a good foundation from his family was seen in his behavior, how he
interact with other people, and everything her mother taught him was clearly seen in the
film, the lessons from the story of the mother has a great impact to his life, because he
understand that following and obeying his parents is very important. As he started
schooling his attitude of being able to learn was seen, given the chance to study he take
it seriously and even fight back because he defended his parents from being mocked by
one of his classmate. The loyalty for his family was seen in the film, wherever Rizal
mass he never forget his family. His relationship with his cousin Eleonor is very
strange, because even though it is forbidden love, Rizal took take risk for it. As I
observed Rizals attitude, he is "bolero", because he quoted "Hindi ko sila pinapaiyak,
pinapasaya ko sila" which refer to the girls he met, which was not clearly elaborated in
the book. Some of the chapters in the book was not in film, like the detailed of his travel
in the different countries, the people he met while he his traveling. But taking his course
as an eye doctor was seen, and operating his mother's eye was there. The film focused
on important detailed especially the chapters that Rizal was accused because of his
writing. How the Spaniards confiscated all the copy oh his books and put it into fire
and put into jail the person who is having or reading his book. Rizal do not want to shed
a drop of blood, because he emphasized that revolution is not the key to stop the
colonialization, but education. Educating the Filipino people is his goal, as he wrote
"Noli me Tangere" but because he failed to do that, he use his writings
to open the eye s of the Filipino people how the Spaniards took our freedom and
brought the people to death, an d through that he succeeded. Through the initiative of
Andres Bonifacio they started to fight back, and took back everything the Spaniards has
stolen. And that part was not elaborated in the book. The film elaborated everything
when it comes to the trial of Rizal's case, how his defender Tavial did his to help Rizal
but because of the injustice and equality, Rizal was judge to be executed. As I analyzed
the last scene which is the execution of Rizal, I became emotional because I realized
how the Spaniards degrade the Filipino people and the injustice prevailed that time.
Rizal asked for last favor and that is to face the fining squad to show the people that he
did not turn his back from them but his request was not granted. On the day Rizal will be
executed he regretted nothing because he know to himself that he did his best to fight
for his country. He faced his fate with faith .His death triggered the Filipino people to
fight back, and open their eyes to have the courage to be united, and to have no fear
because they knew they are doing what is right, and because of the unity and the
courage of the Filipino people we got our independent a against the Spaniards. The
sad part is that, it took the life of Rizal for them to realize what was stolen to them.
I learned many things in studying the book and watching the film. Being able to
have the courage to do what is right for the sake of many, to understand and realized
how the people suffered and sacrificed everything for our freedom, take the good
behavior, attitudes of Rizal and apply it to our lives to be a good example to the next
generation as a future teacher and follow the path Rizal made for us, his principles and
lessons in life. with every lessons I've learned with this subject I will treasure and
apply it in my life.
Recommendation
I usually hear students saying "bakit pa kaylangan pag aralan ang buhay ni Rizal
, eh patay n siya"or anong koneksyon ng course natan sa buhay ni Rizal?" I myself
asked that same question, but as I go on studying the life of Rizal, I realized that
even though this life has no connection with our course, as you go and deeply
understand its objectives you will gain different principles, philosophies, and
methodologies that you can apply in you life. Watch the film, so you can understand
more about the history and sacrifices of people .Studying the life of Rizal is not a
waste of time, but rather a blessing to witness a history the took place to the
Philippine history.
