SCOPE OF COURSE
Program covers all phases of barbering: Theory/classroom instruction (250 required hours) in History, Implements,
Personal Hygiene, Bacteriology, Sanitation, Sterilization, Anatomy and Physiology, Muscles, Nerves, Cells,
Chemistry/Pharmacology, Skin and Scalp Diseases, Massages, Ethics/Shop Management/ Salesmanship, Arizona State
Barber Rules/Regulations; and Practice of Barbering (1250 required hours) covers Haircutting/Hairstyling, Shaving,
Facial Treatments, Scalp and Hair Treatments, Permanents/Chemical Services/Coloring, Hair and Skin Care Products)
and business aspects of running a barbering facility.
Program Completion Length: 1,500 hours as mandated by Arizona State Barber Board
Completion Length Full Time 9 months full-time, student are eligible to make their time
Completion Length Part Time no longer than 15 months part-time; minimum of 27 hour per week for part-
time

Information: Other Educational Req: Student must be at least 16 years of age and have at
least the grade education.
