Book Review
Ideas have consequences. This fact is
clearly evidenced in Kinsey Sex and
Fraud: The Indoctrinalion of People, an
eye-opening book written by Dr. Judith
Reisman and Edward W. Eichel 1990.

The authots point out that Kinsey
evidently wanted culture to move away
from what I would call a Biblical view of
sex. Th'US in the l 940's he instituted
human sexuality research to detennine
the sexual climate in America.
Misconstrued as scientific research, the
authors provide abundant infotmation
in this devastating book that shows fraud
to have been involved in the research.
"There is good evidence that Kinsey's
research was designed to provide a
scientific base for his preexisting radical
sexual ideology: his coworkers were
chosen for their bias: biased 5a:ffiples
were knowingly used; unwarranted
conclusions were drawn from data
presented; methods are sometimes
obscured, sometimes flawed; some data
are contradictory; there is a prior history
of deception in other scientific endeavors;
Kinsey has dissembled in the medical
literature; Kinsey co-authors have
lmowingly misrepresented their daca in
subsequent publications; criminal
experimentation has been the prime
source of Kinsey's childhood sexuality
data; and then there is the Masi.ow affair
which reveals Kinsey as a man on the way
to a scientific conclusion regardless of
the evidence." (p.15) Earlier in the
introduction the reader is informed of
this specific problem with Kinsey's
research. "The problem with Kinsey's
'statistically common behavior' (or
statistical morality), however is that it
was defined by using clata from a sample
ofintervieweesthatwasunrepresentalive
of society-that contained, in the case of
the male sample, for example, a bigh
percenrageofprisonersandsexoffenders.
Present and former prison inmates made
up as much as 25% of the group of men
Kinsey used to find out what 'nonnal'
male sexual behaviorwas!" (p.9)
To back up their claim, the authors
look at Kinsey's research of male and
female child sexuality. In these chapters
the reader better understand Kinsey's
personal bias in the research as well as its
problems and impact.
"While Kinsey held that all sex was
natural, he argued that the narrow limits
prescribed by society was unnati.tral.
Virginity before marriage and sex
exclusively within marriage were limited
and theteforeunnatural-thus, in a sense,
immoral.
Both childhoodse?UJa} activity and all
sexual activity were regarded by Kinsey
as normal. In fact, he regarded some
fonns (e.g. bisexuality) as superior in
that more variety was offered." (p.45)
The authors do the readers a great
service in detailing the broad impact his
research has had in our own day. This
impact is seen in the rise of a variety of
sexually transmitted diseases that are
clearly a result of the increasing sexual
freedom practiced by Americans since
the 1950's. Although much media
coverage has been given to AIDS, we
must be concerned by a great variety of
venereal diseases. The reader learns that
"today gonorrhea is the most common
reportable disease in school age
children-surpassing chickenpox,
measles, mumps and rubella combined."
(p.92) "One of the problems with this
disease is that .about 10% of males and

more that 70% of females infected are
unlikely to be aware of it.
Another problem is the increasing
resistance of the gonococcus bacteri.trrn
to drug rreatment" (p.94)
Because the Kinsey report presented
erroneously high projections on the size
of the homosexual
estimated AIDS victimS have also been
too high. In recent years this estimate bas
had to be revised downward by a much
as500,000.
The high estimates of homosexuals
haveincreasedtheirpoliticalclout. Kinsey
research had estimated 10% of the U.S.
population is homosexual, 4% being
exclusively homosexual (pp. 193-194).
More recent studies reveal that less that
1 % of the -populace is homosexual. (p.
195) Believing the K"msey statistics,
politicians listen closely to the aims of
vocal homosexual groups.
Another widespread result is the
influence of the Kinsey report in the sex
education programs that are being
implemented in public schools
nationwide ... "there is strong evidence
tbat the basic ideology of sex education
bas been dominated by a handful of
individuals who have the goal of
programming young minds by teaching
children beliefs and values far different
that their parents ever envisioned ....
The teachers who teach tomorrow's
teachers-and who have recently drawn
up the guidelines for accreditation of
degree programs for sex educators-are
largely committed to Kinseyan view of
sex." (p.119) This book provides much
ammunitionthatwilla11.owtho.5efighting
pblicschool education programs to fire
more conclusive arguments toward their
opponents.
Finally the book correctly points out
the increasing move in society toward
adult-child sexual relations. There have
