Mark, with 21st Century Christian publishing , is also the Associate Minister for the Brent- wood Hills church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee. Marks comment when contacted before was, Celebrating so many years of service to the Lord in a place like Yosemite Bible Camp is wonderful! I should be paying you for the privilege of speaking! It seems like it should still be summer and here we are in October. Friends of YBC have been busy this year with several im- provements to camp. Please drive up to camp and see how beautiful it looks. Thank you all for all of the pies for Memorial Day! I have never seen so many delicious homemade pies. Re- member that we will need them again on Memorial Day weekend, to help celebrate YBCs 55th Anniversary!!! We sold items at our great Ladies Retreat in Septem- ber. I want to thank Joy Hendrix for all of her hard work that weekend. She was faithful to take money and organ- ize the tables for our craft items for sale. Friends of YBC ladies in Lemoore had a Dime-a-Dip luncheon after church the first of October. Denise and Sarah Dean headed up the luncheon, which raised $341.26 for YBC. We challenge all the ladies to do a project in their home congregation. The Friends of YBC Annual Christmas Boutique and Luncheon will be at Tang Dynasty in Fresno on Saturday, Dec. 3. This years ticket price will remain at $15. We are no longer able to use Home Town Buffet, as they have remodeled and made the banquet room very small. But Tang Dynasty has lots of room! Please remember Yosemite Bible Camp when you pray. Its such a wonderful place for all of our children and grandchildren, and God has blessed us so richly. Shirley Garretson, President, Friends of YBC Volunteers from Bakersfield, Visalia, Fresno, Clovis, and Madera churches finish up the lower bowl/benches project. I learned a lot about Jesus Enriching experiences at Camp By Janet Kleyn, President, Agape Villages S usie went to camp with her brother. This was their second year to do this. She had a broken arm, but was determined to still go. When one of our social work- ers talked to them about their experience, they both ran to get their yearbook to show the new friends they made and the activities that they enjoyed. Susie said that she had a great time. She sang her favorite Christian wor- ship song and said she learned a lot about Jesus. Shawn is a child who has faced a lot of adversity. His biological mother has mostly disappeared from his life. When our social worker has visits with him, they talk about his concerns while also talking about God and how Jesus would have handled a certain situation. Shawn enjoys these discussions. Shawn was able to attend Yosemite Bible Camp. He was so excited about all of the scripture reading and songs that he learned (and so proud to tell our social worker that he won first place in shuffle board too). Now, his foster mom gives him a different book of the Bible to read each week to continue his spiritual walk.
Note from Janet: We had 20 children who attended Yosemite Bible Camp and we are very grateful to those who paid for scholarships so the kids could go. What an enriching and fine time!

Strolling through camp, improvements that have been made over the last seven years are every- where. These have included beautification projects for buildings and grounds as well as improvements for safety and efficiency. According to Grady Bil- lington, the Boards plan- ning committee will meet in January, 2012, to update the Ten-Year Plan. Scheduled Improvements for the current plans 3 re- maining years are listed. 2012 Remodel girls cabins 4, 5 Replace safety rails around lower boys dorm and boys cabins 6, 7 Complete the remodel of lower boys bathroom Continue planting trees on mountainside (done every other year) Friends of YBC will have new flooring put on the Ramada and VIP cabin 2013 Re-dash swimming pool; replace tile around pool; repair/replace deck tile Remodel girls cabins 6, 7 2014 Rebuild dressing room at swimming pool Continue planting trees By Angi Santymire D uring a time when the U.S. economy is causing many Americans to be burdened with financial struggles, we are noticing a trend here at YBC. Summer camper numbers, on average, went up almost 10% this year from last summer! This number reflects both pre-camper as well as camper-aged children and we think this is just great! If you are like many families, you have had to cut back on extras like eating out, gift-giving, and more expensive vacation choices. But it is encourag- ing to see that even with less funds, many families and congregations are still making it a priority to send their children to YBC. We aim to do our part to make camp an unforgettable, uplifting, positive experience for every- one who comes to Gods Mountain to grow closer to Him.
