This is the first opportunity I have had to welcome you
back to school after the half term, as last week I attended the Year 5 residential. It is great to be back and already into the swing of activities, visits and visitors. The pace doesn't stop and before we know it, it will be Christmas!!!! Class assemblies Thank you to Class 4D for kicking our year of Class assemblies off. This morning was a real example of what goes on in our school. It started with that Kylie classic I just can't get poo out of my head. The children were excellent and thoroughly entertained us with their songs as well as their amazing knowledge of the digestive system. We look forward to seeing so many other examples of learning throughout the rest of the year. Please note we are changing the date of Class 4Es assembly to later on in the year, giving Ms. Leeson time to settle in further. Playground As you know, we have had the front playground retarmacked and we are currently experiencing a few drainage issues. Please make sure you avoid the huge puddle that seems to form outside the Year 6 doors. Whilst we await for this to be sorted out, #4thtimelucky, we may use it as an alternative to Stechford Cascades.
Black History Month
October is the annual month dedicated to Black History. This is a time where the children celebrate the importance of different cultures and significant people who play a major role. The whole school came together yesterday to share all the work that they have been doing. It was a fabulous assembly and the children were truly amazing. At LGJS we feel that it shouldn't just be a month, we celebrate how diverse our school is and promote our differences. Remembrance Thank you to everyone for helping to support the poppy appeal. Our children spent the day finding out about WW1 as well as holding a whole school assembly where a 2 minute silence was impeccably observed. Sports and Clubs Football Another busy week of football, resulting in another trophy. Year 5 crowned Champions! Year 6 boys just missing out in the final and hats off to Year 4 for doing so well in a Year 5 tournament. The future truly is bright. Clubs Did you know that we currently run 14 clubs a week? The demand for our clubs is incredible and all are practically full. Keep a look out for change overs and any new clubs.
