I.

Rehearsals:
Tuesday&Thursday3:104:35p.m.Room1.
A.
Studentsareexpectedtocometoallrehearsalsthoroughlyprepared.
B.
SpecificrehearsalscheduleswillalwaysbepostedinadvanceonBlackboard.
Checkthisschedulewellinadvanceandbepreparedforaproductiverehearsal.
Responsiblepreparationbyeachindividualcreatesexcitingrehearsals!
C.
Therewillbenofood,drinksorchewinggumallowedinrehearsal.
D.
Sections are required to schedule time outside of class to rehearse passages in the
music that need attention and cannot be coordinated through individual practice.
You must attend these rehearsals.
E.
Students will come prepared with all necessary equipment for the music being
rehearsed. This includes mutes, reeds, mouthpieces, sticks/mallets, etc.
F.
Each performer must have a pencil available to mark their parts with appropriate
information regarding the music and must do so.
G.
Students need to be punctual to rehearsal. This means that each performer is
appropriately seated and warmed up when the tuning note is given.

II.

Attendance:
Studentsareexpectedtoattendallrehearsals.
A.
Ifyoumustmissarehearsalforanyreason,youmustcallProf.Smartin
advanceoftheabsence.Itisyourresponsibilitytomakesurethatall
music
requiredforrehearsalisavailabletothesectionintheeventofyourabsence.
B.
Ifarehearsalismissed,youmustscheduleanappointmentwithProf.Smart
withinoneweekfollowingtheabsenceforacoachingsessionontheperformance
material.
C.
Unexcusedabsenceswillsubstantiallyloweryourgrade.Absencefroma
performancewillresultinautomaticfailure.
D.
Alistofrequiredperformancesandextrarehearsalsisattached.

successoftheensemble.Theensemblessuccessdependsonthe
individual!

Wheneveravailable,scoresandrecordingsofcurrentrehearsalworkswill
beonreserveatthelibrary.Forthoseofyouwhoarepreparingfora
careerinmusic,thiswillbeanextremelyvaluableresourcetodevelopa
moreholisticunderstandingofeachwork.Thisisespeciallyimportantfor
futureeducators/conductorswhoneedtodevelopexcellentscorereading
skillsandrehearsaltechniques.Youarerequiredtolistenwiththe
scoresatleastonceforeachconcertcollectionhowever,todevelop
betterscorereadingskills,youareencouragedtovisitmanytimes.

AcademicMisconductandtheStudentConductCode
AllStudentsmustpracticeacademichonesty.Academicmisconductissubjecttoanacademic
penaltybythecourseinstructorand/ordisciplinarysanctionsbytheUniversity.Allstudents
