Introduction
As inflation is hitting Indian economy hard from past 10 years . It has become mandatory for
both husband and wife to work for providing a good standard of living to their children .During
early days only father was the breadwinner but now as women are also getting aware to the
situation and knows that it wont be feasible for mother to stay at home and take care of the child
. The economic trend at present requires both the parents to work, which leaves them with the
most important question of, who will take care of the kids while both of them are away ? Though
a maid or a babysitter provides them with a solution but with the increase in the incidence of
crime it has become difficult for parent to believe on it. The need of the hour is a Daycare centre,
which is authorized by regulatory bodies by giving a proper license so parents can leave there
children at the centre and can go about their job carefree.

Need for child care in India:

In the last decade, India has seen large number of social and economic changes which have led to
transmission of Indian society .Some of the changes are focus on early education, increased
number of families and migration to cities ,growing middle class and increased jobs in IT sector,
number of working women has increased ,which has led to a high potential market of child care
in India which needs to be tapped as according to various surveys the number of day care centre
in India are far less than required .

The survey suggested that though people feel safe leaving there children in a day care centre ,as
they can enquire anytime about their children by giving a call ,but still the percentage of day care
used as a alternative remains low because of scarcity of number of day care centre available in
India.
To conclude, parents have a few childcare options available to them today. Of these,
daycare centers are commercial operations, and by virtue of their raison detre, it makes for
partnerships with daycare centres, or creation of daycare centres, the most viable option for
companies to mitigate the child care issue for their employees.

Requirements of starting up a child day care center:

General Provisions: These include provisions like legal authority, definition of child
care center, hours of child care etc
Licensing Procedures: These include securing license from the licensing office,location
of center, administrative learnings , procedures for securing a license for life safety
approval etc
Centre Administration: The administrative responsibilities, reporting requirements,
center records, general liability insurance etc are covered under this.
Staff requirements: these include the number of staff required, qualifications of the
staff, staff responsibilities, staff orientation and development etc.
Physical Facilities & Program requirements: The activities to be included in the center
for children, program equipment, food and nutrition, parent and community participation,
sleep requirements for children are included in this requirement.
Health requirements: Taking care of the communicable diseases, attendance of children,
first aid for injured children, personal hygiene requirements etc are included in this
requirement.
Transportation requirements: The scope, the vehicle definitions, number of vehicles,
drivers capability, transportation records, vehicle related safety practices are all included
here.

Conclusion: Staring up a Day care center is advantageous at different levels such as personal,
emotional and business levels. By spending much time with children we tend to gain gratitude
and lessons while enjoying the profits from the business. Owning a day care center doesnt
involve lot of stress and pressure as compared to the other office jobs. Operating a day care
center also helps us to understand different behaviors of children and also the parents
personalities which can be helpful in our career down the road.
