English has a pre-eminent place in education and in society.

A high-quality
education in. English will teach pupils to speak and write fluently so that
they can communicate their ideas and emotions to others and through their
reading and listening, others can communicate with them. Through reading
in particular, pupils have a chance to develop culturally, emotionally,
intellectually, socially and spiritually. Literature, especially, plays a key role
in such development.
I teach in the district of Ulu Selangor, Sekolah Kebangsaan SG Tekali.
My school in the uuuulu (interior) of Selangor.Its not a big school. In my
school there is only 3 TESL graduate teachers, including me.
I was given the responsibility by my headmaster to teach one of two year 6
class in my school .Thats the biggest challenge in my life .Number of girl
student is more than boys .The ratio of girls to boys is 3 : 2 .They are not
weak students because they are good in other subjects ,except in English .
They cames

from variety of ethnic and nations such as orang asli ,

Malay, Chinese and Indian. As a teacher of English, a rather large

challenge for me because they are very prejudiced and negative mentality
with the english language itself. My job is to make sure they can pass and
mastered English language and also they change their mentality about
English language.

Armed with the guidance of the book, I tried to invent a quiz game in the
classroom, require students to memorize words easily, plenty of question
and answer, does funny in class, and the proportion of individual attention. I
memorized the names of every student, and everyone will not escape
attention, nagging, jokes and even praise from me.
I always give them tip to master English for example they must Master the
vocabulary, Mastering English Grammar,Think in English and the last one
Write a diary in English.
So I found they interest of English increase day by day. Although not
much, but I'm happy with this positive change.
I believe, the main obstacle to mastering the subject of English begins in
our mind. If during this time you are weak in this subject, always fail in
exam grades are not satisfactory, always laughed when speaking English
and always feel depressed when classes are in English, you will face
difficulty to master
But other than teacher school inferences also have to play role .There is
lack of facilities and materials for English in the school and also the present
environment is not conducive for learning the English language.They
should take an action.

The goal of the English as a Second Language in rural School with planned
systematic instruction and support that will enable them to express the
English language fluently, further their education, and become productive
and contributing members of society. A combination of a strategic and an
affective process as details given below can possibly help the rural
students.

As a conclusion Teaching English as a second language is actually

enjoyable if you do it the correct sporting way. You have to make it fun for
your students too thats the way they will learn better.
