PE Kit
There have been quite a large number of children recently not having the required PE kit in
school. PE is a statutory part of the curriculum and it is essential that they have the correct
kit in school. Children are required to bring indoor PE kit (white T-shirt, dark shorts,

trainers/pumps) & outdoor PE kit (jog/track bottoms, hoodie, track/jog top) to school on a
Monday each week and take home on a Friday. We recommend leaving PE kit in school all week
as it allows us to be more flexible Children who regularly forget to bring their kit will receive a
letter home. Some parents have also asked whether it is necessary to provide pumps/plimsolls
for PE or whether trainers are fine. As a school we are happy for children to wear trainers for
indoor PE providing they are clean. However pumps/plimsolls are much more suitable for younger
children and are essential if your child is not yet able to tie laces yet. Thank you for your
support.
School Uniform
You should have received a leaflet today (Friday 16 January) with full details about how to
order school uniform from our new provider Tesco. There are also details on the school website.
Website
The school website has been updated recently with changes to the uniform section plus the
adding of a section about the St Oswalds
church in Backford and also a safeguarding page.
Please take the time to have a browse, in
particular you might find our new Safeguarding
leaflet informative. You can find it in the
relevant page under the School Information Tab.
Please also log into the site to check out the
class blogs to see what your children have been
up to this week.
Wrens Need Wellies!
Please can all the Wrens children bring wellies to school in a carrier bag next Wednesday 21
January. Thank you.
Help Wanted!
Are there any parents who would be willing to help out on a regular basis in the Sparrows class?
Just one morning or afternoon a week would be great. We can offer you lovely children to
work with and a cup of tea at break time! Please speak to Mrs Fritzsche or Mrs Jones if you
are able to help.
Lunchtime Help
We are desperately short of Midday Assistants at lunchtime, particularly on a Monday, Thursday
and Friday. If you know of anybody who would be willing to help on one of these days please
contact Mrs Johnson in the School Office. This is a paid position.

Lateness
Please can I remind all parents that the whistle is blown for the start of
school in the playground at 8:50am and that all children should be in the
playground for this. There seem to be quite a lot of children arriving after
this time at the moment and entering school through the front door.
Diary Dates
Please note that the online calendar has been updated with dates for the Spring Term. Please
also note the dates for INSET and when the school opens and closes. Thank you.
