PMK Founder Dr. S. Ramadoss Statement

PMK WILL CONDUCT SPECIAL CLASSES FOR

THOSE WHO HAVE FAILED +2 EXAMS
I am pleased that 90.60% of the students have passed in the +2 examinations this year. I congratulate
all those who passed in this examination with special reference to Kovai Nivedha, Thirupur Pavithra
who ranked first in the state and five other students who have secured the next two ranks.
At the same time 9.40% of students have not passed. Those who failed can feel sorry about it but
should not worry about it. They should get over this small set back in life and strive to pass the
supplementary examinations to be conducted in the coming month and pursue higher studies of
their choice. Failed students should not permit any other negative thoughts to enter their minds.
The district wise pass rate in the 12th standard public examinations demonstrate a distressing fact.
None of the northern districts, except Perambalur, figure in the top 14 districts. I congratulate the
Collector, Team of Educational department officials and teachers for raising the pass rate of the
backward Perambalur district. Conversely 7 out of the 10 districts with lowest pass rates are northern
districts - Ariyalur, , Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Krishnagiri and Tiruvallur. This
is not an oddity happening for the first time this year. This is the same story in the last 36 years since
the introduction of public examinations for 10th and 12th. I have been stressing the need to implement
special programs to improve the quality of education and pass percentage in these backward districts.
The present and past rulers of Tamil Nadu totally ignored this suggestion.
No steps were taken in the last four years to improve education in the state. On the other hand five
education ministers have been changed and the sixth is appointed now. There are no organized efforts
to improve the learning ability of school students due to the frequent change of ministers and the
School Education Secretary seizing all authority. Government schools are not provided adequate
infrastructure. Schools without class rooms and schools without toilets stand as evidences of the
appalling condition of school education in Tamil Nadu. The rulers have no commitment to improve
the education department. These are the causes for the failure of about one lakh students to pass the

Date:
12th standard public examinations. These are reasons why only 84% of students from government
schools passed while 97% of the students from private schools got through the examinations.
Pattali Makkal Katchi strongly believes that only by improving education, health and agriculture
Tamil Nadu can see development that will benefit everyone. That is why PMK wants every student to
become an achiever. Those who have failed in the 12th standard examinations should not lose this
opportunity. To help them pass in the supplementary examination to be conducted on the 10th of
next month, PMK will conduct special classes. Graduates and members of the Social Improvement
Society wing of PMK will conduct special classes and model examinations for those who failed in the
12th standard examinations.
Yours,

(Dr. S.Ramadoss)
