School Last Week
Evensong at Canterbury Cathedral
A huge well done to the choir who performed very well at the
Evensong at Canterbury Cathedral on Sunday. Also to Angus
Stainton for reading so well in front of a 400 strong congregation
Hungry for History Award
You will all be interested to know that Hungry for History received
an "Individual Highly Commended" award for the Education
Category of the UK Blog Awards 2015.
Margate Young Artists Painting Competition
Congratulations to Milly Street who won first place in this
competition and to Florence Roberts who came second. They
collected their prizes on Saturday, and their pictures were on public
display.
Teacher Visit
Last Tuesday Junior House enjoyed a question and answer session
with Miss Han, a primary school teacher from China. The pupils in
the Junior House are studying China in Geography this term and it
was interesting to discover the similarities and differences with a
large primary school in Beijing.
IAPS Judo
Congratulations to Ashton Gifford-Groves on making it as far as the
quarter finals in the IAPS Judo competition, defeating opponents of
higher graded belts along the way.
Swimming
Ashton also competed in the East Invicta Development Gala in his
very busy weekend. He won gold in the 200m breast stroke, 100m
front crawl, 50m breast stroke and picked up a silver medal in the
50m back stroke. Well done, Ashton.
Cake Sale
On the 5th May we held a cake sale to raise money for Water Aid

who are currently working in Nepal to aid the Earthquake relief. We


raised a total of 182.53 and delicious cakes were enjoyed by all
the children. Thank you to all those who baked and contributed
cakes for the sale
Sunday Outings
Many thanks to Mr Latteur who spent his birthday at Fowlmead,
cycling with some of our boarders. Meanwhile, Mr Martin and Mr
Collins took a group of budding racing drivers to Bayford Meadows
for some go-karting.
School This Week
Music on Monday
We returned to music this morning with Lucas Mickleborg playing
the violin. He performed a medieval French piece accompanied by
Mr Dix on the piano. Well done, Lucas.
Block 3 to France
This morning Block 3 are off to spend the day in France. They will
be doing a survey at a shopping centre outside Boulogne, then a
survey along one of the main streets of Boulogne, after which they
will visit Nausicaa, before heading home on the ferry.
School Photograph
Please remember that the school photograph is being taken on
Tuesday 19th May.
JH to Denne Hill Farm
JH will be visiting Denne Hill farm on Wednesday as part of their
'food and farming' topic in science. The children will be looking at
sheep and arable farming. Our thanks to Mr and Mrs LoderSymonds for inviting us.
RGP & KO'M with Form 2 to Operation Dynamo Ramsgate
On Thursday morning, Form 2 will be travelling to Ramsgate to
watch a re-enactment of the Little Ships leaving for Dunkirk, as
part of the 75th Operation Dynamo commemoration.

My Neighbourhood Competition
Rightmove is challenging 5 to 18 year olds to share photos of their
local area in My Neighbourhood, a nationwide photography
competition. The deadline is the beginning of July 2015.

All pictures need to be taken in the neighbourhood, at home or at
school. There are three categories:

Mr Latteur will choose and upload the pictures to the competition
website. A print of the picture will also be displayed in the school.
Three- legged walk for Silas
Flo Roberts and Phoebe Flood are preparing for their three-legged
walk around Bewl Water Reservoir to raise money and awareness
for Silas Pullen, their friend, who died from a brain tumour in
December 2013. The girls have said that it is a big challenge and
they hope to laugh and sing their way round, which they feel Silas
would thoroughly approve of! Please support their cause via

Half Term
Half-term begins at 1.30pm on Friday.
Boarders return at 6:30pm on Sunday 31st May and day children on
Monday 1st. Block one are asked to report to the Library for a
meeting regarding Common Entrance at 6:45pm on the Sunday.
We wish you a sunny and restful half-term.
