Classroom Procedures

Mr. McCaskill
Social Studies
www.MrMcCaskill.com
In order to make the classroom an efficient place for learning, policies and procedures
must be followed. Each student deserves to know what is expected of them; so, I send the
rules home for the student and their parent or guardian to review. I expect each student
and their parent or guardian to sign this contract stating that they understand the rules;
and that the student will follow the rules.
Policies for the Classroom
Do not interfere with your peers ability to learn.
Do not stop me from being able to teach.
No tardies (No leaving the classroom for the first or last 10 mins of class).
No eating or drinking in the classroom.
No talking when someone else is talking. In other words, ALWAYS respect the
speaker.
Come to class prepared.
No electronics, hats, or sleeping in class.
No cussing, profanity, or lewd comments or gestures.
No verbal confrontations, fights, or threats.
Classroom Discipline
In general, I expect to have very few discipline issues. I will teach and entertain
to such an extent that students will not have time to get into trouble. However,
should such an issue arise the following steps will be taken to deal with the
problem.
1st Offense Verbal Warning
2nd Offense Student will be sent to another class and receive a
phone call home.
3rd Offense ISS for the period
4th Offense - Referral to the office
Grading Policy
The grading policy will work on a points system. You earn points for each
assignment. Each assignment will be worth different amounts. For obvious
reasons, test and projects will be worth a bit more than classwork and
homework.
All students will begin the semester with a grade of 10 points, after turning
in this contract signed by both student and parent.
All homework must be turned in ON TIME! Any work turned in beyond
the deadline will receive no grade higher than a 70%.

All make-up work must be turned in within a week of being assigned. All
make-up work turned in beyond this deadline will receive no grade higher
than a 70%.
I will not accept incomplete work. Students are obligated to submit all
work COMPLETED. Grades will not be applied until the work is
completed and turned in.
Re-Teach/Re-Test Policy: If you are not happy with the result of a test,
you can re-teach/re-test it. This means you come in on your own time
(before or after school, during lunch, etc.) and bring your test paper with
you. Then, for every question you missed, you can write 3 facts about the
question and recover the points the question was originally worth. You
may only do this at school. You may only do this once for each test.

Extra Credit
Students may earn extra credit during the course of the semester by producing
exceptional work. However, extra credit is a privilege, not a right! Most students,
if any, will not benefit from it. The only way to guarantee a quality grade in this
class is to earn it the old fashion way.
I look forward to working with you this year. With your parent/guardians signature as
well as your own, this represents a contract for our classroom.
