he holidays will soon be here

and we all know what that
means. Family and friends will
be coming to visit and youll want
your home to look its best.
Placer Carpet & Tile is just the
company for the job. Whether
youre looking for your carpet to
look like new, you want the dingy
grout lines of the floor, kitchen or
bathroom to sparkle as if they were
just installed, or you want your
guests to be able to get comfortable on freshly cleaned furniture,
Curt Stimbert is your man.
Stimbert began his journey of
ridding Sacramento and Placer
Counties (and the surrounding
areas) of dirty upholstery, tile and
carpeting in 2007.
Placer Carpet & Tile, familyowned and operated, is based in
Lincoln. The staff is professionally
trained and equipped to offer their
customers the highest quality carpet, tile and grout, and upholstery

cleaning and restoration services

available. We are dedicated to our
customers and the services we provide, Stimbert said. Our clients
100-percent satisfaction is our priority. Our No. 1 product is customer service!
Stimbert and his staff are fully
and expertly equipped to provide
these services for their customers
with great care, excellence, honesty
and value.
They want their clients to know
that they are passionate about
earning the trust of their residential and commercial customers by
providing high quality, honest, value driven cleaning and restoration
services. Some key features they
offer are: all work is completed by
the owner and key individuals of
the company; they perform work
for commercial or residential
clients; they have monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual programs that are available; and they
are committed to excellence.
There are very important fac-

tors that must be present to reach

desired results when cleaning carpet and tile; water temperature,
cleaning agents, agitation, time
and equipment are things that
affect every job, Stimbert said.
If youre tired of buying spot
remover to try to clean the remnants of life from your carpet and
upholstery or you cant get your tile
and grout to sparkle as it once did,
then call Placer Carpet & Tile to
schedule a time to meet and discuss having your floors cleaned
and restored.
Follow the recommendation of
one of their happy customers.
We are extremely happy with
Curts service. We will definitely use
him from now on and will recommend him to everyone we know.
Schedule an appointment at
(916) 216-9229 or visit placercarpet
andtile.com.
It is truly an honor to be able to
serve you and we look forward to
talking with you soon, Stimbert
said.

Jason Scheff is surprised
that 30 years has passed
since he joined Chicago.
I never thought Id be doing
this now, Scheff, 53, said. When
I got the gig, my publisher said,
This is awesome. Youll get a fiveyear run. Walt Parazaider, the sax
player who started the band, said
this is an incredible ride. It just
continues.
The band is now in its 48th
consecutive year of touring.
Chicagos lifetime achieve-

ments include Grammy and

American Music Awards, a Hollywood Walk of Fame star, 21
Top 10 singles, five consecutive
No. 1 albums, 11 No. 1 singles
and five Gold singles. Chicago
has a total of 47 gold and platinum awards.
Chicagos hits include Make
Me Smile, Does Anybody
Really Know What Time It Is?
25 or 6 to 4, Saturday In The
Park, (Ive Been) Searchin So
Long, If You Leave Me Now,
Wake Up Sunshine, Colour
My World, Im A Man and
Youre The Inspiration.

And the gigs keep coming,

week after week.
It seems were playing all the
time, Scheff said, 100 to 110
gigs a year. Were the Boys of
Summer along with the baseball boys.
Those Boys of Summer, otherwise known as Chicago, perform at Thunder Valley Casinos
amphitheater on Sept. 26.
At live shows, youll hear tons
of hits. When you come to see a
Chicago show, youll see the
younger demographics showing up with their parents and
grandparents, Scheff said. It

never ceases to amaze me when the
younger audience members say, Theyre
dragging me to this concert. Then they
validate us by saying they cant believe
musicians are doing this. Were bridging
the gap.
Besides Scheff, Chicago is comprised
of original band members Robert
Lamm on keyboards and vocals; Lee
Loughnane on trumpet and vocals;
James Pankow on trombone and Walt
Parazaider on woodwinds; Tris Imboden on drums; Keith Howland on guitar
and vocals; Lou Pardini on keyboards
and vocals; and Walfredo Reyes, Jr. on
percussion.
Chicagos music is still timely, Scheff
said. I hear this from a lot of people, the
way songs were really written were heavy
on the melody, great melodies. The
songs Robert Lamm and James Panko
wrote were phenomenal and great
record making. Im so grateful that the
band paved the way for us.
Scheffs favorite part of being in Chicago is that he sees the joy it brings to
people.
It might be a clich but its the truth.
After 30 years, Ive gone through growing
pains; Ive experienced so many of the
material things you would want, Scheff
said. But at this point, seeing how much
this means to people I ran into someone going through health issues and she

nfortunately, there is still a need

for the annual Mud-Run 4-Life
fundraiser.
The annual events mission is to
raise funds to help educate, provide
resources and do what we can to
prevent suicide in our community.
The Mud-Run was created by
three Lincoln families, who each lost
a son or a brother to suicide during a
three-month period in 2011.
Even though we know we have
saved lives, we sadly still have suicides right here in Lincoln. Our
work is far from done, said Kelly
Waterlyn, whose son, Jake, was one
of those three young men who died.
Its an epidemic. Every 14 minutes
in the United States, someone takes
their lives. There is a high rate
among young men, 18 to 24. There
are young women, too, taking their
lives. People in the military and
police officers have a high rate of
suicide, people in high stress jobs,
also.
While the families heard from six
residents that Mud-Run 4-Life
resources and awareness saved
their lives, Waterlyn said, many

The Mud-Run allows residents to

discuss suicide prevention.
more residents need help.
We need to bring this awareness
about suicide prevention. There are
people who have these feelings and
are afraid to talk about it. If you break
your leg or have cancer, people are
empathetic and are right there for
you, Waterlyn said. If you say, Hey,
I have a mental health illness or Im
suicidal, its a stigma. These people
dont know what to do and cant tell
anyone. Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. No
looking back. You make that decision, you cant take it back.

The fourth annual Mud-Run event

on Sept. 26 includes a run of 10 muddy obstacles. In addition, Lucky 7
Band from Sacramento will perform
and resource information booths, a
kids zone including bounce houses
and face paintings, will be set up.
You can go and watch the MudRun for $5. Our goal is to raise funds
but our message is to have people
hear our message. We have a keynote
speaker, a survivor, in the opening
ceremonies, which is serious, but
then the Mud-Run is all about fun,
Waterlyn said. Celebrate life. Life
gets muddy and hard at times. But
theres someone ready to put out a
hand. You have to grab the hand.
After the seriousness of the opening
ceremony, its all about fun.
And participants can feel good
about admission fees helping area
organizations and residents promote suicide prevention.
All proceeds go back to Lincoln
and surrounding organizations,
including Lincoln High Schools
character-building and Point Break
anti-bullying and coping program;
Wheatland School District; and
Glen Edward Middle Schools selfesteem and coping skills programs.
