Incumbent serves as Service Dispatcher for Anderson Municipal Light and Power and is responsible for operating telephone and radio. DUTIES: Dispatches routine incoming telephone calls to service crews. Enters required information into computer, such as trouble calls and street light repairs. Maintains twoway radio contact with all Municipal Light and Power utility vehicles and transmits messages to them. Contacts duty foreperson and supervisor after regular hours to arrange for necessary emergency service to customers. Maintains proper records of crews and records all incoming messages. Locks and secures building and switches PORCHE system to answering service as needed. Learns new skills as job dictates. Maintains professional attitude in dealing with customers and utility office on credit and all other issues. Works scheduled or unscheduled overtime with weekend rotation. Performs related duties as required. I. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: High school diploma or GED. Knowledge of and ability to use a telephone, two-way radio, and computer with typing skills required. Ability to speak distinctly. Knowledge of utility personnel for calls to various crews who will handle the emergency call. Ability to determine if the emergency is the customers responsibility or the responsibility of the utility, especially on after hour emergency calls. Follows standardized questions to determine the nature of the trouble. Ability to read maps and working knowledge of the streets, subdivisions, industrial and commercial sites, and other locations in the service area.

Ability to effectively perform all essential duties of the position. Responsibility to secure correct name, address, location, and exact nature of the complainants call. Error can result in substantial inconvenience to the public and additional cost to the utility. III. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Incumbent must sit for a long period of time and maintain constant attention to the telephone, two-way radio, and outage monitoring system. IV. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Incumbent works in an office environment often without supervision.
