Mongolian Cultural Sharing Day.

Narration:

1. Welcoming and opening.


a. Masoom & Kimberly will open the event and welcome the guest.
2. Mongolian National Anthem. Asks everybody to stand up.

PART I

After anthem, Aidoo comes up to the stage and introduces himself as who he is. He tells: “I
bought a new blackberry. It should have lots of new applications. Let’s see what this one is”. As
soon as he pushes the button lights will be turned off.

Chinggis Khaan (Michael Hernandez) and his comrades (Bilguun & Baavai) and queens
(Ankhzaya, Nominsuren, Badamgarav) and horse fiddle player go out and seat on the right side
of the stage. Chinggis Khan seats in the middle while two queens seat next to him on right and
left side. Two soldiers would be standing front of them.

When sound of galloping horse comes on, Aidoo should be lying on the left side of stage.
Then light turns on and two soldiers bring Aidoo to Chinggis Khaan. Soldiers say: “Kneel to
our greatest king Chinggis Khaan”. At that time Michael grabs up his blackberry to find out who
is Chinggis Khaan.

The lights will be turned off and projector is on with presentation about Great Empire of
Mongolian History. Kimberly will read the presentation. During the presentation people will stay
on the stage and freeze.

The lights will be turned on.

Aidoo says: “The greatest conqueror of the world, please give me one chance to save my life. I
would like to show you my talent and dance for you.”

Chinggis Khaan says: “Do as you wish. If you could entertain us, you will be our guest”.

3. Michael Aidoo’s dance.

Eeverybody likes his dance, and Chinggis says: “Since you danced for us, I would like to
welcome you and show the talent of my people”.

4. “Bayad” Dance

Kimberly introduces: “Nominsuren Munkhuu. “Bayad” dance. Bayad is a minority ethnicity


group of Mongolia. Mongolian traditional dances are descriptive that expresses everyday life
chores of nomadic life like milking a cow, riding a horse and religious ceremony, etc. The
Mongolian dance requires dancers to be energetic and limber.
5. Morin Khuur (Horse Head Fiddle) Melody- Battumur Erdenedelger

Kimberly introduce: Battumur Erdenedelger. Morin Khuur or Horse Head Fiddle plays
prominent role in Mongolian music and culture. With only two strings, Morin Khuur express
sound of beautiful land, endless steppe and rich culture of Mongolia and further more.
Traditionally, the people of Mongolia are nomadic herders, and the Morin Khuur's evocative
shape and ability to imitate the sound of neighing horses reflect the importance of the horse to
Mongolian national identity.

The light turns off

PART II

The light turns on

Babu, Jambaa, Enkhzaya and Enkhbayar come to stage. All four of them will give him a hug
and one of them says: “Today is an independence day of Mongolia. We are free country with
free people”.

Aidoo picks up his blackberry and searches about Mongolian independence. At that time the
presentation will be shown and people go back to stage. Kimberly reads the presentation and
Ononmaa announces next performance.

6. “Amin Nutag”- Mongolian song. Singers- Jambaldorj Ganbold; Battuvshin Batchuluun;


Enkhzaya Atarbayar & Enkhbayar Erdenebileg.
7. “Myangad” dance – Mongolian traditional dance. Nominsuren Munkhuu and Kimberly
Connelly. Myangad is also one of the minority ethnicity groups of Mongolia.
8. “White Stupa”- Mongolian Melody with Mongolian nature pictures.
9. “Biyeleh huslen”/ Passion to dance. Nominsuren Munkhuu, Ankhzaya Usukhbayar,
Khongorzul Boldbaatar, Enkhzaya Atarbayar, Battuvshin Batchuluun and Batbaatar
Erdene-Ochir. This dance is unique because of its richness in movement that resembles
daily actions of nomadic life.

After dancers go behind the curtain light turns off.

PART III

Light turns on and Aidoo is in modern Mongolia. He asks where he is and what year is from
guy (not decided who will play in this role) who was passing. The guy answers: “It’s 2010 and
you are in Mongolia.

Presentation of Modern Mongolia is displayed on the projector. Kimberly reads it


After presentation, guy says:“Are you a tourist? You better go to see a fashion show and
contortion performance. It’s always a great entertainment and fascinating experience for the
tourist. I will take you to the show”.

Aidoo and guy will go back to the stage.

Kimberly announces:

10. Goyo – modern song about Mongolian traditional clothes. (Jambaldorj Ganbold,
Enkhbayar Erdenebileg, Ankhzaya Usukhbayar & Batgerel Gankhuu)

11. Contortion performance. Dulguun Tumurbat. She is 18 years old high school student in
Denver, Co. After 5 years of hardworking training, she became a professional
contortionist and performed in Mongolian Circus for 2 years. She had moved to USA in
200… She had participated in many international festivals and received numerous
awards, highlights of which are:

-The Silver Elephant (Silver medal) from Third Moscow International Youth Festival –Contest in
Circus Art in September 2004, USSR;

-Silver Trophy from Sixth China Wuhan International Acrobatic Art Festival in October
10, 2004, China;

-And XXVI Festival Mondial Du Cirque De Demain of Paris invited her to participate in
its International Youth Circus Competition in February, 2005 where she won the bronze
medal for her performance.

Contortionism has been a tradition in Mongolia for hundreds of years and is a common act in
Mongolian circuses. It was first performed as part of the traditional Buddhist Tsam dance
ceremony and has been incorporated into many Mongolian plays. Mongolian contortionism
represents emotions, mythology, and metaphors through the abstract gestures of body
movements.

12. Fashion Show – Mongols do like to wear nice, richly decorated clothes which
compensate the simple, ascetic nomadic lifestyle. Deel or a long textile gown forms the
basis of almost all Mongolian clothes. The complete Mongolian traditional clothes
include a hat, shoes and accessories. Traditional woman costume is very bright and
lavishly decorated. In recent years, modernized and westernized Mongolian Deel is really
popular for special occasion and everyday clothes. Most of the clothes in this show are
modernized Mongolian Deel.
