APPENDIX D
TEACHERS ANSWERS DURING THE INTERVIEW

1. What is the usual discussion of the teachers during free time?

Teachers usual discussion concerns financial matter or monetary

constraints. Next concern the students behavior and lack of
interest in their studies. Updates from DepEd office and some
school-based issues and concerns such as rationalization and
evaluation matters.

Financial problem
Financial problems
Students behavioral problems
Usual topic during free time conversations by teachers is financial
matters.
Family problems (emotional relationships). Students problems.
Financial problems
For me, students performance, teachers attitude, money matters.
Teachers personality and attitude towards work. Negative attitude
towards work. Career enhancement.
The usual discussion of the teachers during free time is about
money matters, the increase of salary and sometimes the problems
of the students in the school.
Students who are always absent, not paying their contributions
and miscellaneous fees, parents who have not attended any
homeroom meeting. Salary increase of teachers, pay day, loans
update, etc.
Because cant determine the time consumed and there are some
concerns in your class /homeroom you will miss to follow up.
Financial and students behavior
Discussion of financial needs and problems
Lack of interest in listening during the meeting
The usual discussion of the teacher during the time is financial
problem, students activities done and family problem.

86

Follow up question:
What are the possible reasons why
unnecessary talking ranks number 1 as time waster?

Teachers tend to find comfort or confirmation maybe with other

friends teachers and sharing with peers also help one to be
relieved of the said pressures and emotional burdens among
teachers.
An example of time waster.
An expression of just complying requirements.
Topics of unnecessary talking varies. It leads and connects to
another topic which becomes fun, therefore, releases stress and
tension for the teacher.
Thus, time is wasted.
Waste of time. As far as I can remember, unproductive meeting did
not happen here in school.
It will rob productive time. It may lead to gossiping and back
stabbing.
To express emotions
Because the net income of the teachers salary cannot cope up
with the needs in the family.
Release stress and part of enjoyment.

2. What can you say about unproductive meeting?

Cant say. Dont consider every meeting as unproductive. In fact,

each meeting is a perfect avenue for some queries and concerns to
be answered. So its not a waste of time.
An example of time waster.
An expression of just complying requirements
Sorry I cant recognized any meeting as unproductive
Personally, I believe that unproductive meeting is a situation in
which all the plans/visitors transpired during the meeting will not
produce tangible results.
Unexpected output after the meeting. Participants are not
responsive.
Area meeting (Agenda are not well prepared/ on the spot)

87

Unproductive meeting resulted to negative productive which means

teachers did not respond to any call from the person in authority.
No commitment shown.
Area Meeting. When the department head just observed and
doesnt care for whatever discussion made. No focus of the meeting
facilitated.
Meeting without agenda and meeting not in quorum.
Sometimes area meeting.
Its just a waste of time since everybody is busy.
I cant recall any.
Unproductive meeting meeting that wont be able to attain or
meet the desired objective of the meeting. Open ended meeting.
It is unproductive when it did not drive their personal needs and
career.
It might be year level meeting because of duplication of input from
the General Faculty Meeting and Area Meeting.
Unproductive teacher if teacher did not listen to the principal. Talk
to the teachers personal time.

3. Why lack of discipline is considered time waster and how you

overcome it?

Because we should be firm in ones decisions and dealing with

students. Show to them that what you say you mean.
No recognized plan for work, no prioritizing.
Absence to make a list of what-to-do-today and stick to it. It
should start with the easiest up to the hardest.
Discipline on time management can be overcome through
prioritizing tasks and personal commitment to change ones
attitudes.
No priority of works/budget of time of work. There should be
well/budget of time of work. There should be well planned schedule
on what to do.
The school must facilitate career enhancement, area confrontation,
open-line relationship must be enhance to every individual.
To overcome as teachers being lack of discipline time management
talk to the concern teacher in a polite manner regarding that
attitude.
The teacher needs to plan, organize and make of listing on things/
task to be prioritized.

88

Proper planning should be considered.

Pray, talk to the teachers personally.
I think everyone is trying to overcome it and they have each
different factors. It is always ranks work as your one priority.

4. How do you feel an ineffective communication and feedback by your

superior as a teacher? Do you consider it as time waster too?
Hurting! Challenged! It ruined my day.
Discouraged. Bad time.
Hurt
I would feel bad. Then, disrespect to my superior follows.
Ineffective communication and feedback can cause loss of
confidence and dissatisfaction towards my superior. My time is
wasted for hearing bad words.
To have updates/ information on my responsibilities.
Worries. Waste my time.
Negative feeling. No self-contentment. Thinking at home bad time.
Well, I feel discourage and discomfort but it depends upon the
situation and the task by your superior.
Sometimes we feel discouraged and ask evaluation and ideas from
peers.
Because it causes disrespect and useless time hearing those
negative one.
Discouraged and negative emotion.
Sad
5. What are the unfinished tasks you are leaving during seminar,
trainings, and during absences?
Lessons
undone
which
require
double
time
for
its
accomplishment. It greatly affect in my performance because
despite the efforts and trying hard attitude to give my best to
students, it wont be that easy and I know it is even harder to
materialize.
The prepared lessons > scheduled task
Discouraged, angry and tried to continue the work.
Less enthusiastic.
Task: Follow up students absences and grades.
Usually it is the coverage of the lessons that will be left behind.

89

Doing classrooms structuring. Making lesson plan/ checking of

papers/ recording results.
In seminars, trainings no unfinished task. I always bear in mind
that once Im absent students need some work to be done in order
that the class will be unruly.
Theres a gap of the lessons of the students for the quarter.
Even If some teachers will take over classes, the lessons /topics of
the students are not even especially if they have not recorded any
quiz/ assignment. It will cause a lot of stress.
Lessons students will be behind.
Required output of the seminars.
Expected tasks/activities to be done by the students without the
presence of the teacher.
The task unfinished done during my absence are the lesson plans,
checking of papers and recording. Because if Im here I used my
vacant time to write and all of the above.
Follow up question: How does it affect your performance?

My performance could be affected because lesson would not be

carried out or achieved on that day done due to students
attendance. It may also lead to failing grades; therefore, increase
number of students who will fail.
Usually it is the coverage of the lessons that will be left behind. It
will cause me stress because I have double my time in order to
catch up with the missed lessons.
As a teacher, it affects my performance since being a committed
teachers responsibility should be done all the time.
Attitude is a great factor that will affect our performance.
Good seed good fruits
Bad seeds bad influences
Every teacher is a nurturer of every great deed.
Stressful and it affects our achievement
It can cause ineffective as a teacher because of rushing of topics/
coverage that makes students unmastered some lessons.
It causes: stress, worried, bad, sick
It affect in a way that you become one of the contributor of
unattainable objectives and aims of the seminars.
You become an ineffective teachers.

90

Coverage of subject matter content will be affected

Unsatisfactory performance.
