Mrs.

Tebeaus Fabulous Fourth Grade

July 18, 2016
Welcome to 4th grade!
My name is Ruth
Tebeau and I am your
students teacher this
year. I am so excited to
begin a new year with exciting possibilities. This
year the expectations will
be greater, but I am always here to guide and
support. I am confident
that if we all work together we can make
this the best year yet!
Homework Folders and Planners
Your student should come home with
their binder, planner, and reading log each
night. Please review the planner and sign
after your student has completed their
homework and 30 minutes of reading. Unless otherwise noted, all homework is due
the following day. Please also sign the reading log after they have read.
Communication
I would like to communicate with
each of you electronically throughout the
year via email. Please send me an email to
rtebeau@richfieldpsa.org with your students
name included so that I can save your contact information.
My website, mrstebeau.weebly.com is a
great way to keep up with what is going on
in our class. All of my contact information
is listed at the bottom of this newsletter.
This is the only newsletter you will receive
this year. Make sure to check the website
often.

Snack
Students are invited to bring in their
own snack and water bottle with a lid each
day. We will have a set snack time in the
afternoon. These should be healthy snacks
such as fresh fruit, veggies, crackers, cheese,
etc. Please do not send in candy, chips, or
other junk food. Last year the school had a
grant that supplied a snack for each child
daily.
Students may bring a water bottle
from home. The school will also provide bottled water for your student. Only water is
allowed in the classroom, except for breakfast and lunch times.
Requested Classroom Donations
These will be kept in the classroom supply.
These are not required.
Tissues
Hand sanitizer

Gallon sized zippered plastic bags
100 watt and 60 watt CFL light bulbs
(the squiggly kind)

The following items will be provided to your
student, but they may bring in their own if
they wish. These are not required.

4th Grade Open House

August 9th from 5:00-6:30 pm
New student orientation is August 3rd
from 5:00 to 6:00 pm

Leader In Me
We are continuing our Leader in Me
program this year. The 7 habits are:
Habit 1: Be proactive
Habit 2: Begin with the end in mind
Habit 3: Put first things first
Habit 4: Think win-win
Habit 5: Seek first to understand,
then to be understood
Habit 6: Synergize
Habit 7: Sharpen the saw
Essential 55
We are also using the Essential 55
rules, based on the book written by Ron
Clark. Your student will have a list of
them in their binder.
Houses
Students will continue in the house
they were in last year. Each house contains
3rd-8th graders. Students will compete for
points throughout the year. The houses are
named as follows:
Animus which means Courage - red
Visionaria which means Visionary yellow (my house)
Pro Aliis Vivo which means Selfless green
Amicus which means Comradery - blue
Classroom Management
I follow a Love and Logic style of discipline in my classroom. I give children logical consequences that fit with the behavior.
This would include, but is not limited to
cleaning up an area after a student gets
upset and throws things, having to come in
during recess to finish work that was not
completed, etc.
I also have a visual behavior chart
that helps students to monitor their own

behavior. Each day they start on green and

have the ability to move up and down as
their behavior warrants. The steps are as
follows:
Pink- Hip, hip hooray! Youve found the
LEADER in YOU today!
Purple-What a leadership trendsetter!
YOU understand that together is better!
Blue-Your leadership skills are starting
to glow! Keep working hard to make
them grow!
Green- Youre ready go to, youre on your
way! Did you set a personal goal for today?
Yellow- Be in charge of your choices and
turn it around Get your day back on
proactive ground!
Orange-Dont get hung up on silly mistakes! Put first things first. Youve got
what it takes!
Red-Take a breath and get control-You
need to balance your mind, heart, body
and soul.
The exception to the steps listed
above is when a student is physically
harming another student, the student has
a handbook violation, or when their behavior is stopping the rest of the class from
learning. If necessary, when dealing with
students during any of the above listed
steps, I will call the parents or guardians of
the student.

See you August 8th at 8:30 am!!!!
