MIX DESIGN FOR M60 GRADE CONCRETE

STEP 1Target Mean Strength

=60+14=74Mpa

STEP 2WATER /CEMENTITIOUS MATERIAL RATIO:

W/b ratio has been selected from the graph from attatched as Annexure I ie .29 to .345
W/b ratio adopted =.30 (High performance Concrete by P.C.Aitcin,Page No:235 )
STEP3WATER CONTENT:
According to IRC: 44 -2008, Table 5,
Water Content =186 Kg
Since superplasicizer being to be used, we can reduced the water content between 20% to
30%.
Reducing water content by 28%,
we get water content =186X0.72=133.92Kg say 135 Kg
STEP 4:
Cementitious Material content =135/0.3=450 Kg,
The cementitious material consists of OPC & Microsilica. Based on our past experience
microsilicais 5% to 6%.
Assuming 6% Microsilica ,
We get X+.06X=450,
Where X=cement content
X=424.5 say 425 Kg,
Therefore micro silica =25 Kg,
STEP 5:
Sand Content = 38%
Coarse Aggregate:
20 mm =60%
10mm =40%

STEP 6:
Superplasicizer fosroc Struturo 100 M,
Assumed dosage =1.15by mass of cementitious material =450X1.5%=5.175Kg
Specific Gravity=1.06
Workability:High performance concrete is always self compacting conctere (Very high
workability) as per clause 4.6.5,IRC:SP 70-2005,
Degree of workability
Very High

Slump
150-200 mm

STEP 7:
Vol.Agg = 1000-425/3.15-25/2.43-6.75/1.06-135=1000-134.92-10.29-6.36-135
=713.43 Kg
Vol.Sand=713.43X38%=271.10 Liters
Mass of Sand= 271.10X2.65=718.41 Kg

Litrs
Mass of Coarse aggregate=442.32X2.68=1185.42 Kg
Vol.CA=713.43X62%=442.32

20 mm =1185.42X60%=711.25 Kg Say 711 Kg

10 mm =1185.42X40%=474.17 kg Say 474 Kg

SUMMARY:
Cement =425 Kg
Microsilica=25 kg
Water =135 Kg
Coarse sand=713 Kg,
Coarse aggregate =20 mm=711 Kg,
Coarse aggregate=10 mm=474 Kg,
Admixture Fosroc structuro 100M=6.75 Kg,
Design Slump 150-200 mm after 2 hours
