Unpacking the Australian Teaching Standards and aligning them to the AFMTLA developed ones

Facilitated by Anne-Marie Morgan (AFMLTA President)


Participants will explore how the Australian Teaching Standards at the Highly Accomplished level align with the
AFMLTA Professional Standards.

Update on Languages in NSW and Undertaking Action Research


Facilitated by Gillian Cordy (Education Officer for Languages for the Sydney Catholic Schools and MLTANSW
President), and Maria Gaudioso (Italian Teacher at Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College, accredited as
Experienced Teacher)
After being provided with an update on Languages in NSW, participants will share and discuss practical tools
and ideas in order to undertake action research in schools. There will be opportunity for discussion and
questions to be addressed in this session.

Advocating for Languages in your school community and beyond

Facilitated by Merryl Wahlin (AISNSW Language consultant)


This session will focus on discussing some of the challenges facing Languages leaders and various strategies to
overcome or address these challenges in view of relentlessly advocating for the effective delivery of language
courses in schools in NSW.

Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Highly Accomplished Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
