It would be my utmost pleasure to

express my sincere thanks to my
Chemistry teacher Mrs.Savitha Manoj in
providing me a helping hand , guidance,
support and supervision for the
completion of this project.
This project is a team effort , so I thank
my group members for their valuable
time and effort put into this project.
Last but not the least, I would like to
thank the Almighty for blessing us with
good health and for being with us in all
walks of our life.

Introduction

In the past decade, there has been a

tremendous increase in the yields of
various crops to meet the demands of
over growing world population. This
great feat has been achieved by
adopting new methods of farming and
by extensive use of fertilizers and
insecticides like DDT<BHC etc.
They either kill the insects or prevent
their growth. All pesticides are
poisonous chemicals and must be used
in small quantities and with great care.
Samples of raw food commodities
including pulses, fish etc. show a good
amount of insecticide residues. Such
findings have aroused the concern of
scientists and health officials all over the
world to put a check on the use of
insecticides and to search for noninsecticidal means of pest control .

Aim
To study the presence of
insecticides/pesticides (Containing
Nitrogen-Chlorine) in various fruits and
vegetables.
