CHAPTER IV

PRESENTATION, ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION OF DATA


This chapter presented the pertinent data that gave clear answers to the
problem sought by the study. The importance of the results of the survey data gathered
from the one hundred (100) relocates families within the Resettlement areas were also
discussed.

Table 1 presents the frequency and percentage distribution of the


respondents according to sex. Most of the respondents were either the head of the
family or the spouse. And sixty-four percent (64%) or two hundred and forty-two (242) of
the 380 respondents were male and thirty-six percent (36%) only or one hundred and
thirty-eight (138) of the 380 respondents were female.

According to Table 2, 31.6 percent of the respondents or one hundred and


twenty (120) of the 380 belong to the age bracket of 41 to 50 years old which means to
say most of the owners were middle aged. Followed by those who are included in the
age of 31 to 40 years old comprises the 23.7 percent of the respondent or ninety (90)
out of the 380.

19.7 percent of the respondent belongs to the young population of 21 to


30 years of age or seventy-five (75) out of 380. Only 16 percent of the respondent
makes up the age bracket of 51 to 60 years old or sixty-one (61) of the 380. And lastly
the small group of senior citizens ages 60 and above encompasses the 9 percent of the
respondents or thirty-four (34) out of 380.

Table 3 illustrates the frequency and percentage distribution of the


respondents according to civil status. It shows that most our respondents in the
resettlement program are married, 50.8 percent or almost half of the 380 respondents.
Twenty percent (20%) or seventy-six (76) of the 380 respondents were separated and
were raising their children alone.

Sixty-three (63) of the three hundred and eighty 380) respondents were
single or 16.6 percent were living alone or with their parents or siblings. And 12.6
percent were widowed or forty-eight (48) of the 380.

Table 4 demonstrates the years the respondents have stayed in the


relocation site. Most of the respondents have been in the relocation site for only a year
or two, 42.9 percent or one hundred and sixty-three (163) of the 380 respondents.
One hundred and forty-six (146) or 38.4 percent of the respondents have
been 2 to 3 years long in the relocation program, they were the first batch to transfer in
Towerville. The latest batch that were transferred in the relocation site have been only
for 6 to 12 months, covers the 18.7 percent or the seventy-one (71) of the 380
respondents.

About 34 percent of the surveyed households in the relocation site are


college undergraduate or one hundred and twenty-eight (128) of the 380 respondents.
One hundred and nineteen (119) of the respondents or 31 percent have graduated from
high school or have earned a vocational course.

18 percent or sixty-seven (67) of the 380 respondents have not finished


their secondary level and fifty-three (53) of the 380 respondent or 14 percent have
finished their schooling including their tertiary level. About 3 percent or only thirteen
have graduated from elementary and did not have the chance to continue their studies
out of the 380 respondents.

Table 6 reveals the frequency and distributions of the respondents


according to employment status and it shows that 39 percent of the respondent or one
hundred forty-seven (147) have been currently working in private companies and one
hundred and five (105) or 28 percent of the surveyed household work are employed in
the government, either contractual or permanent.
About a hundred of the respondents or 26 percent have their own
business such as sari-sari store and the likes. And a small portion, twenty-eight (28) or 7
percent of the respondents have relied on their pension alone.

Almost half of the surveyed household have the a monthly income of


Php5,001 to Php10,000, 49 percent or one hundred and eighty-five (185) of the 380

respondents. And eighty-seven (87) or 23 percent are earning Php 3,001 to Php 5,000
monthly.
More than Php10,000 have been monthly earned by the 19 percent or
seventy-one(71) respondents and about 10 percent or thirty-seven (37) of the
respondents only earned Php1,000 to Php3,000 a month.

More than half of the respondent is nuclear family, meaning to say they
live with their spouse and children, 17 percent or one hundred and ninety-six (196) of
the 380. Next is the extended family in which other relatives live with the nuclear family.
One hundred and nineteen (119) or 31 percent of the respondent have other relatives
living with them.
Only 17 percent or sixty-five (65) of the surveyed household are living with
their spouse or their child which is considered as single in the household type.

Table 9 discloses the frequency and distributions of the respondents


according to household size, the most appropriate and numerous household size for the
respondents were family with only four members with 27 percent or hundred and one
(101) respondent.
Eighty-eight (88) or 23 percent of the respondent have a family member of
five, next is with a family member of three with 19 percent or seventy-one (71)
respondents.
