Questions and answers to tender: Supply of 2 units of Quayside Cranes (STS) 23 rows

1)
With reference to the wheel load requirements in page 2 of Schedule 5 - Technical
Specification, we found there are two different requirements about wheel load which are differentiated
by "to 2017" and "from 2017", and it seems the wheel load requirements from 2017 is looser than to
2017.
Please could you advise what's the difference of these two requirements and which requirements shall
be the standard we should refer to for designing the STS and preparing our bidding documents?
Answer:
To year of 2017, the Port Authority of Gdynia, who owns the wharf, will conduct its modernization
and replacement of waterside rail that will greatly increase the wheel loads according to the
parameters entered in the BCT Technical Specifications.
Gantry STS 23 rows should be designed in accordance with the parameters that will exist after 2017.
To 2017 crane should have operational limits in order to meet the current limitations. Please identify
the limits of such charges, for example: up to 10 rows twin spreader can be used with a load of 65t ,
from 10 to 23 rows only a single mode spreader can be used with a maximum load of 50 t.

2) Would you accept the crane to have limited operative outreach (less than the stated 62.5m) and
limited SWL (under the stated 65t) for the period of time between delivery and 2017?
Answer:
We accept only the crane with limited SWL(under stated 65 t) for the period of time between
delivery and 2017 .
3) Punctual loads (Point loads) are not stated on the specification. We need to get these values prior
submitting our offer to see whether we are capable to comply or not.
Answer:
To year 2017 on waterside rail maximum wheel load is 400 kN./m and maximum punctual loads is
650 kN. Storm condition maximum wheel load is 480 kN./m. After 2017 on waterside rail maximum
wheel load will be 800 kN./m .
Landside rail on 30,48 m maximum wheel load will be 800 kN./m
4) We foresee Tie Downs to be necessary. Will they be accepted in our proposal and installed on the
quay?
Answer:
We are waiting for answer from wharf designer about possibility to execution tie downs at the height
of waterside rail . We should receive the answer to end of week 43.

technical specification. Could it be acceptable a longer gantry travel length above the 27m?
Answer:
BCT will not accept a longer gantry travel length above 27 meters .
6) In chapter 2.10.1 Crane Particulars (15) about Trolley gauge = 6000mm, this refer exactly to a two
girder design from an Asia competitor. Is a smaller distance for a monobox or a trussed design
possible?

Answer:
Smaller distance for monobox or trussed design is possible .
7) In chapter 3.1.1 (2) the sentence: The boom and trolley girder shall be either one or two girders.

with that the crane will be light. Is that possible?

Answer:
BCT will accept solution for boom with trussed girder or monobox girder.
8) Regarding to the wheel storm brakes in chapter 4.3.3 is it possible to use here a rail clamp like
