New Products from CAE Mining

We are thrilled to announce the release of our new products CAE Strat3D,
CAE Sirovision and CAE Ore Controller. Please contact us for further details
or a demonstration:

CAE Strat 3D
CAE Strat3D represents a step change in the
modelling of coal deposits and other stratified
deposits and was officially released in November
2012. To discover how this ground breaking
software can demystify stratigraphic modelling
for your company, please contact your local
CAE Mining office.

CAE Sirovision
The system comprises the specially designed
stereo camera for capturing stereo photographs
and software for the generation and analysis of
3D images. This technology was developed by
the prestigious Commonwealth Scientific and
Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in
Australia and has been integrated in
CAE Minings solution footprint for the mine
planning cycle.

CAE Ore Controller

The core focus of Ore Controller is to maximize
the value of your mine by ensuring the right
material goes to the right place. It takes the
operation through the steps of planning
blast/grade control drilling, modelling the
geology within each blast and determining
the ore packets within them, predicting the
displacement of materials due to blasting and
communicating the dig lines to the loader
operators.
Using a central database and customizable
workflow, Ore Controller breaks up grade control
tasks into clearly-defined activities, and guides
each user through their day to day work.

understanding of the basic functions of the system, including project, file and data management, processing of drillhole
data and viewing, formatting and displaying of data.

Course Prerequisites
It is not essential to have prior experience with CAE Studio software however delegates will require:
Knowledge of standard exploration and/or mining practices, and
Experience with computers within the WindowsTM environment.

Practical Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will have achieved the following practical skills:
Improved project and data management skills so that information can be retrieved quickly and efficiently
Ability to visualize data in 2D and 3D for better understanding of the complexity of the data
Proficiency in string manipulation; the building block for orebody interpretation, mining planning and

mine development

Confidence in creating Digital Terrain Modeling (DTM) and closed volumes for representing surface

topography, geological features (lithology or mineralization volumes), open pit designs and underground development
and stope designs

Maximized impact of data presentations through preparation of effective plots.

Studio Geological Modelling & Introductory Resource Estimation

This course is designed for geologists with the specific goal of teaching the practical application of block modeling, grade
estimation and resource evaluation using CAE Studio. It provides a brief introduction to geostatistical theories, with an
emphasis on the practical application of these techniques.

Course Prerequisites
It is not essential to have prior experience with CAE Studio software however delegates will require:
Knowledge of standard exploration and/or mining practices, and
Experience with computers under the WindowsTM environment
Previous attendance on the Studio 3 Foundation Course.

Practical Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will have achieved the following practical skills:
An understanding of drillhole representation in Studio 3 so decisions can be made as to the best method for calculating
the drillhole traces and whether static or dynamic drillholes are required
Ability to create and manipulate wireframe representations of orebodies for 3D visualization and volume calculations
Proficiency in creating block models to accurately represent grades of a deposit, its boundaries and internal structures for
grade estimation
Introductory skills using non-geostatistical grade estimation methods such as Nearest Neighbour and Inverse Distance,
and
Competency in evaluating block models and drillholes against strings or wireframes to determine summary volumes,
tonnes and grades within a defined volume or area.

CAE Mining Course Outlines

Studio Resource Evaluation
This course is designed for geologists and mining engineers involved in resource and reserve evaluation. It is suitable
for those with limited or no experience of resource evaluation, but is also an excellent refresher for more experienced
professionals with the specific goal of teaching them geostatistical methods and the practical application of geostatistical
study using CAE Studio.

Course Prerequisites
It is not essential to have prior experience with CAE Studio software however delegates will require:
Knowledge of standard exploration and/or mining practices, and
Experience with computers within the WindowsTM environment
Previous attendance at Studio Geological Modeling and Non-Geostatistical Estimation Course / introductory skills
using the block modeling tools in Studio

Practical Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will have achieved the following practical skills:
Ability to generate a block model containing structural, geological, grade and other information required for reserve
calculations and planning
Competency using the statistical tools to create summary statistic reports, histograms and probability plots for better
understanding of the data collected
Skillful at using the geostatistical tools for generating experimental variograms from the data and fitting a best fit line/
curve as a measure of spatial dependence of the data over some distance, and
Confidence in determining appropriate ellipsoid search parameters, grade estimation methods and control parameters
to interpolate grades into the block model for calculating summary volume, tonnes and grades within a defined
volume or area.

Open Pit Mine Design

This course is designed for open pit engineers with the specific goal of providing an understanding of CAE Studio
functionalities for open pit mine design. The delegate will learn how to use an optimal pit shell generated in optimization
software (e.g. NPV Scheduler), to create a pit design using various methods. The course will then focus on how to apply CAE
Studio technology to design and evaluate mining units within the pit design, in a logical and detailed way.

Confidence in creating block models to accurately represent the volume of a resource and reserve, its boundaries and
internal structures and assigning parameters within the model to assist with the mine design process,
Skills in calculating and evaluating a defined geological orebody to define an economic and mineable

model that can be used for pit optimization,

Proficiency in creating open pit mine designs for improving long term and short term mine planning,
Ability to evaluate pit ore reserves by creating evaluation outlines and calculating grade tonnage

information, and

Maximized impact of data presentations through preparation of effective plots of open pit
mine designs and projects
