CAE Strat 3D
CAE Strat3D represents a step change in the
modelling of coal deposits and other stratified
deposits and was officially released in November
2012. To discover how this ground breaking
software can demystify stratigraphic modelling
for your company, please contact your local
CAE Mining office.
CAE Sirovision
The system comprises the specially designed
stereo camera for capturing stereo photographs
and software for the generation and analysis of
3D images. This technology was developed by
the prestigious Commonwealth Scientific and
Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in
Australia and has been integrated in
CAE Minings solution footprint for the mine
planning cycle.

*CAE Mining reserves the right to make alterations to training courses, not limited to cancellations and re-schedules.
Course Prerequisites
It is not essential to have prior experience with CAE Studio software however delegates will require:
Knowledge of standard exploration and/or mining practices, and
Experience with computers within the WindowsTM environment.
Practical Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will have achieved the following practical skills:
Improved project and data management skills so that information can be retrieved quickly and efficiently
Ability to visualize data in 2D and 3D for better understanding of the complexity of the data
Proficiency in string manipulation; the building block for orebody interpretation, mining planning and
mine development
Confidence in creating Digital Terrain Modeling (DTM) and closed volumes for representing surface
topography, geological features (lithology or mineralization volumes), open pit designs and underground development
and stope designs
Course Prerequisites
It is not essential to have prior experience with CAE Studio software however delegates will require:
Knowledge of standard exploration and/or mining practices, and
Experience with computers under the WindowsTM environment
Previous attendance on the Studio 3 Foundation Course.
Practical Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will have achieved the following practical skills:
An understanding of drillhole representation in Studio 3 so decisions can be made as to the best method for calculating
the drillhole traces and whether static or dynamic drillholes are required
Ability to create and manipulate wireframe representations of orebodies for 3D visualization and volume calculations
Proficiency in creating block models to accurately represent grades of a deposit, its boundaries and internal structures for
grade estimation
Introductory skills using non-geostatistical grade estimation methods such as Nearest Neighbour and Inverse Distance,
and
Competency in evaluating block models and drillholes against strings or wireframes to determine summary volumes,
tonnes and grades within a defined volume or area.

Course Prerequisites
It is not essential to have prior experience with CAE Studio software however delegates will require:
Knowledge of standard exploration and/or mining practices, and
Experience with computers within the WindowsTM environment
Previous attendance at Studio Geological Modeling and Non-Geostatistical Estimation Course / introductory skills
using the block modeling tools in Studio
Practical Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will have achieved the following practical skills:
Ability to generate a block model containing structural, geological, grade and other information required for reserve
calculations and planning
Competency using the statistical tools to create summary statistic reports, histograms and probability plots for better
understanding of the data collected
Skillful at using the geostatistical tools for generating experimental variograms from the data and fitting a best fit line/
curve as a measure of spatial dependence of the data over some distance, and
Confidence in determining appropriate ellipsoid search parameters, grade estimation methods and control parameters
to interpolate grades into the block model for calculating summary volume, tonnes and grades within a defined
volume or area.
