I Believe That Self-Worth Comes From Within
The representation that I created for my I Believe Statement was a two page essay
describing was self-worth means, how I discovered my own self-worth, and how other people
can recognize the value they possess. The steps that I took when creating my essay were coming
up with an outline of all of the big ideas, and then conveying the overall message I wanted to
share with my audience by incorporating it into the essay itself. The one challenge I faced when
writing my essay was wording it so I could relate to my audience, and create a lasting
impression. This artifact represents my deeply held belief because it is something I have
personally dealt with, and I want to help other people understand where self-worth derives from.
1) When I was younger I experienced trouble with recognizing my own self-worth,
and it took me a while to realize that self-worth is defined by myself which lead me to
this belief.
2) There was not a trigger moment in this experience because there was not a
specific factor that caused this belief that I hold. Moreso it was a number of things that
helped me recognize what self-worth meant, and where it came from.
3) This belief developed gradually because I had to recognize different aspects about
myself, and my value before I could create an opinion about my belief.
4) This belief provides a framework for other aspects about my life because it serves
as the foundation for the different principles that I follow, and the standards that I hold
myself to.
