1. Why does Charlie say I never tell lies? What is he talking about?
He says I never tell lies because he always gets caught when he tries to lie.
2. What does this say about his personality and intelligence?
THis shows that he is not smart because he doesnt realize how you are really
supposed to take the test, but his personality is on a great level because he
does not want to lie.

4. What were Dr. Nemur and Dr. Strauss arguing about?
Having Charlie get operated on his intelligence by having surgery.

Get his intelligence tripled by a surgery.

6. Dr. Strauss tells Charlie not to worry about the operation. What is his
reasoning for this?
Dr Strauss says this because he tells Charlie that it is all science.
7. Dr. Strauss wants Charlie to concentrate on what in his journal entries?

8. What is Charlies opinion of Algernon now? Why does it change?
CHarlie doesnt like Algernon because the mouse makes him feel stupid and
less smart than he already feels.

He beat Algernon in the mouse trap game for the first time in a while.

how she feels about Charlie?
Mrs. K runs out of the room because she starts crying. She feels bad for
charlie the way people treat him ,because he thinks his friends are being
nice, but they are all being mean to him but he doesnt think they are.
12. List 3 improvements in Charlies intelligence from the beginning until the
end of Part I.
Charlie Has learned how to spell way better. He understands more things. He
still gets a lot of things confused but overall he has improved in his learning a
lot. He also beat algernon in the mouse trap game after his surgery a while

ago. He also finally learned how to understand what a picture looks like
instead of just a blob of ink.

Text Evidence #3: I beat Algernon! I don't even know I beat him until Burt the
tester told me This is a big deal and supports the idea that Charlie is getting
smarter because Algernons brain level increased by 3x its normal IQ, which
means that Algernon is especially smart. So by CHarlie not being able to beat
him before but finally beating him now is a big deal.

Charlie is starting to view himself as a genius. He is becoming smarter by the
second.

Others view Charlie as now being very smart. He has learned so much more
after the procedure he had. The text evidence shows that he just soaks up
learning very easily now, and knows what hes doing and learns it fast.

charlie views himself as now being more smart, he sometimes things
negatively about himself because he lost his job, but he still knows he is
improving a lot.

Now I can see that unknowingly I joined with them in laughing at myself. That
hurts most of all.

celebrate, but Joe said he had to buy somethings for his wife,and Frank said
he was meeting his cousin for lunch. Everyone seems to be frightened of me.

Algernon was not doing good and then he died. Then Charlie was upset and
that's when he started to feel like everything was changing. He didnt know
who he as or where he was. Also Charlie he lost everything he knew and he
knows that he could read the books he has a week ago but now he cant.
2. How does Charlie view himself?
He thinks that he is doing good but Algernon died and he thinks it will happen
to him and he is getting crazy he doesn't know where he is or who he is. Also
he lost everything he just learned and he quit and didnt type for a period of
time. He realizes that he could understand books a few weeks ago but now he
cant understand them.

Its hard to deal with him because after the surgery he was better and
reading and understanding things but then a few weeks after, when Algernon
died he started to feel all of the things he learned go away.

what might happen. But how it hurts.

decides to make the most of his time left and focus on trying to record all of

the dumb person that he might be becoming again

Charlie lost all of his knowledge in everything and he moves away to get a
fresh start from everyone and everything.
2. How does Charlie view himself?
He now believes in himself way more even though he really went back to
normal and doesnt understand anything and spells everything wrong.

ill practise hard and maybe i wont forget everything I lerned.

Others feel bad for Charlie because he is starting to forget everything he

She feels bad for him because he lost his smartness and forgot everything
that he has learned from the operation. Now he is back to knowing nothing.
