principle
3. Show enthusiasm and cooperativeness through participating
inside the class

Suppose you want to wear all those shirts and pair of pants during
vacation, how many combinations are possible?
Did you find difficulty in choosing which to wear? Why?
Aside from comfort, what do you consider when you choose an outfit?
How else can you find the number of possible outcomes?

Practice Guided Activity:

1. If ice-cream sundaes come in 5 flavors (mango, cheese, strawberry,
chocolate, buko) with 4 possible toppings (marshmallow, kisses
chocolate, pinipig, stick-O), how many different sundaes can be made
with one flavor of ice-cream and one topping?
ABSTRACTION
Fundamental Counting Principle: The principle that allows you to
find the number of ways that a combination of events can occur.
Rule: Just simplify the number of options

APPLICATION:
Use the fundamental counting principle to find out the possible
combinations.
1. A movie theater sells 3 sizes of popcorn (small, medium, large) with 3
choices of flavors (plain, butter, cheese). How many possible ways can
a bag of popcorn are purchased?
2. Mildred has finally narrowed her clothing choices for the big party

types of desserts. If a meal consists of 1 burger, one beverage and
one dessert, how many possible meals can be made?
ASSIGNMENT: Study the lesson very well for the prepared quiz
tomorrow. Good luck!
