while giving different mentees different starting pitches.

Learning Objective:
Identifying and understanding how technological improvements in the Baroque
era allowed

Participatory Activity:
1.) Stable tuning
-give mentees the same starting pitch and attempt initial activity again.
2.) Barlines
-attempt to have mentees sing a short excerpt from a pop song, with
metric value of notes as well as measures removed.
3.) Harmony
-attempt to harmonize a melody using counterpoint.
-re attempt same exercise using I and V chords.
4.) Instrumental innovations
-have a mentee play the chords to the second harmonized excerpt on toy
guitar.
-repeat the same activity with a real instrument

Summary:
A large number of technological innovations in how music was written and
disseminated allowed for instrumentalists to rise to the same level of artistry
that was typically reserved for vocalists.
