Abstract: In the science of traffic safety, the question is whether it is possible to assess the situation
of traffic safety with appropriate indicators, etc., which in itself will keep the information for
example on the affected areas in road safety. With monitoring indicators of traffic safety, is to be
understood and precisely define problems in traffic safety, but also to plan effective measures for
road safety. The relationship between current and desired values of the indicators determines what
should be foreseen at the programs for traffic safety and the measures to be taken. With the UN
General Assembly Resolution of 2009 is determined the Decade of Action for Road Safety (20112020 years) and the target is the number of deaths in road accidents to be reduced by 50%. Second
National Strategy of the Republic of Macedonia, to improve road safety for the period 2015-2020,
aims to the number of victims in road accidents be reduced to the average number of victims among
the EU Member States, the number of victims -drivers to reduce by 30% the number of serious
injuries to be reduced by 40%, while the number of children - victims of traffic to be reduced to
zero. The aim is the mode of action, as well as measures to be taken by the local community, as well
as the role of political authorities to improve road safety through the monitoring of SPI. The volume
of abstract cannot be more than 250 words.
