Childrens Names and Learning/Development Goals:

Preassessment and Findings: I asked______ what he knows about spiders


and he said that they spin webs to stay busy. I asked ______ how many legs a
spider has and he said four _____. ________ used his hand to show me how big
a spider is by using his hand. I was reading the busy spider to ______ and I
asked her why the spider was spinning the web and she said for fun. I
asked_____ what spiders eat and she said bugs. I asked _____ where spiders
live and he told me that they live outside, but that he has seen them inside
to. I asked _____ if she liked spiders and she said no because they are mean. I
also asked her how they catch their food and she said that she didnt know.
From these assessments, I see that the children know what a spider is, but
they dont know why they spin webs or how many legs they have.

Ideas to be Emphasized:
1. Spiders have 8 legs and are different sizes.
2. Spiders spin webs to catch their food.
3. Spiders are hairy and use those hairs to taste and to protect themselves.

1. What does a spider look like.
2. Why do spiders spin webs
