Lil Wayne Mirror ft Bruno Mars

Lil Wayne is a known criminal which is obviously pointed out in his music. We can see
this from a few of his lyrics in this song:

I see the scars that remain this references his violent past
I see the blood in your eyes references to two things. Either that he recognises
his deep desire for violence within himself or it can be a reference to blood shot
eyes from smoking marijuana which are both illegal

In this song Lil Wayne talks about several times that the person in the mirror (himself) is
a front for the much deeper person inside him:

You looking at me but Im looking through you

I see the love in disguise
I see the pain hidden in your pride
I see the guilt beneath the shame

One of Lil Waynes lyrics from this song references his resemblance to his father who
left him when he was born.

Looking at me now I can see my past, damn I just look like my fucking dad .
This gives us some insight into his life as it describes how he doesnt have the
best moral character,

When put together the song describes Lil Waynes battle between his ID and his
superego; compared to his other songs this really shows the inner working of his mind
expressing his ID in a way he doesnt normally do. The majority of his songs are normally
controlled by his superego which tells him to act like a thug to maintain his reputation as
a gangster. However in Mirrors his ID recognises this and expresses this throughout
most of the song. His lyrics suggest that he is just trying to keep up an image and that he
is the only one that understands himself through looking in the mirror .
