30903 Solid and Hazardous Waste Management

Problem Based Learning 2

Solid and hazardous waste generated at source is often not been separated to their composition for
potential process of reuse, recycling and recovery. It will leads to multiple challenges during
collection, transportation and treatment of the waste. Insufficient knowledge on solid waste
composition and classification are among the obstacle for source separation. As a responsible
chemical engineering engineer, we should concern on how to promote separation at source by
knowing major obstacles, suitable handling procedures, storage containers and suitable
minimization techniques. Make observation, estimate quantity and suggest suitable solutions to
overcome source separation of solid and hazardous waste of your chosen area in MICET.

Trigger 1: Record, sketch and design finding to enhance your suggestion for solutions to source
separation. You may use pictures, videos and any graphic to support your solutions during
presentation.

PART A: INSTRUCTION

1. Each group need to record their activities during PBL process.

2. The picture and sound in the video should be CLEAR
3. The duration of the video should be MORE THAN 15 minutes
4. ALL GROUP MEMBERS must be involved in the video to be evaluated
