DESCRIPTION OF THE PROGRAM


Sorting Out Our Trash: A San Jose High School Initiative - Bringing Awareness to the
Importance of Proper Waste Management and Recycling is a comprehensive program designed
to educate students, faculty, staff, and the wider community about the critical need for proper
waste management and recycling.

Through this program, San Jose High School aims to create awareness and promote sustainable
practices to ensure a cleaner, healthier environment for ourselves and future generations. The
program will cover a wide range of topics related to waste management, including waste
reduction, waste segregation, recycling, composting, and proper disposal techniques.

The program will consist of a series of interactive workshops, presentations, and activities that
will provide a comprehensive understanding of the topic. Experts in waste management and
recycling will be invited to share their knowledge and experience with the students, faculty, staff,
and the wider community.

Students will be encouraged to take an active role in the program by participating in group
activities, developing and implementing waste reduction and recycling initiatives, and spreading
awareness to their families and friends. Faculty and staff will also be encouraged to lead by
example by promoting sustainable practices in their classrooms and offices.

The program will culminate in a school-wide event that will showcase the achievements and
efforts of the students, faculty, staff, and the wider community in waste reduction and recycling.
This event will also provide an opportunity to engage with local businesses and organizations
involved in waste management and recycling.

By participating in Sorting Out Our Trash: A San Jose High School Initiative - Bringing
Awareness to the Importance of Proper Waste Management and Recycling, students, faculty,
staff, and the wider community will gain a deeper understanding of the importance of sustainable
waste management practices. We hope that this program will inspire individuals to take action
and make a positive impact on the environment, both locally and globally.
LEGAL BASES OF THE PROGRAM
Sorting Out Our Trash: A San Jose High School Initiative - Bringing Awareness to the
Importance of Proper Waste Management and Recycling is a school program that is mandated
by several legal bases set forth by the Philippine government and the Department of Education
(DepEd).

Republic Act 9003, also known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000,
mandates the proper disposal of solid waste and the promotion of waste reduction and recycling.
This law recognizes the need for sustainable waste management practices and the role of local
government units in implementing waste management programs.

DepEd Order No. 44, s. 2015, also known as the Guidelines on the Enhanced School
Improvement Planning (SIP) Process and the School Report Card (SRC) requires schools to
incorporate environmental concerns, such as solid waste management, in their annual plans. This
order aims to promote the integration of environmental education in the curriculum and instill a
sense of responsibility among students for the environment.

The program will cover various topics related to waste management, including waste segregation,
composting, recycling, and proper disposal techniques. Through a series of interactive
workshops, presentations, and activities, students will learn about the negative impact of waste
on the environment and the importance of proper waste management practices.

The program will also promote community involvement by inviting experts in waste management

community will contribute to the goal of promoting sustainable practices in waste management
and instilling a sense of responsibility for the environment among the younger generation.
OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAM
1. To educate students on the importance of proper waste management and recycling practices in
order to instill a sense of responsibility for the environment among the younger generation.

2. To promote community involvement in waste management and recycling initiatives by inviting


experts in the field to share their knowledge and experiences with the students, faculty, staff, and
the wider community.

3. To encourage students to take an active role in the program by developing and implementing
waste reduction and recycling initiatives and spreading awareness to their families and friends.

4. To integrate environmental education in the curriculum and incorporate environmental


concerns, such as solid waste management, in the school's annual plans in accordance with
DepEd Order No. 44, s. 2015.

5. To contribute to the goal of promoting sustainable practices in waste management and reducing
the negative impact of waste on the environment.
